Just wondering if anyone has any rough figures from past experience on how many people will submit their precious email address on a blog to receive a monthly newsletter?

Been looking for new ways to monentise my video game blog and a newsletter seems like a good option.

Also thinking of setting up a few autoblogs to acquire a targeted audience across multiple niches.

    Cheers guys!

I think it would be very low if you are just promoting a newsletter.

You really need to give a real perceived benefit for someone to sign up, OR you bundle it with another service.

For example, I have a forum sign-up on my site, and I have a newsletter opt in box ticked by default, and that gives me a much better percentage sign-up than just a newsletter form on its own.

I agree, it would perfectly help if you'll give provide them something like a bonus item or free ebook once they've signed up.

It totally depends on dozens of factors including how good your content is, the relationship and trust you have with your visitors, whether they get any value from the content you provide on your site to make them want emails from you, your headline and copy to convince them to opt in, the benefit they get from opting in, opt in form placement, number of opt in forms etc.

No one can give you an answer you'll have to test for yourself. Currently my blog receives about 5% opt in rate but it's new and I'm still in testing stage (testing placement, opt in forms, copy etc). I aim to increase to 10% which is a more acceptable figure for a blog.

Actually it cant be said numerically. It depends on the content of your blog....make them interesting and useful for people.
