Just wanted to do quick post about my ongoing "experiment".

I have 1 WP blog site and 1 Automegascript driven site (this script is by symbiotic who is a member here) both are targeting the same niche, and both have very similar domain names with the keyword phrase in them.

Just thought I'd post here a finding of mine :P :

The WP blog seemed to have gotten indexed a lot faster by g00gle (something like 10 days with not very much content and little SEO done except permanlinks). This is not surprising or unexpected since search engines seem to love WP blogs. The WP blog did have a sitemap plugin and an SEO plugin installed though.

The website that was run with Automegascript did not manage to get indexed by g00gle after 2 weeks or so. What I then tried was to use this sitemap tool to create a sitemap:

Remembering again that both sites are pretty similar and not purposefully search engine optimized.........yet ;)

Code:
http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/

I followed the instructions on the sitemap generator page and the generated sitemap was then uploaded to my Automegascript website. Shortly (days I think, I wasn't keeping a log or any thing although I should be doing that) after, my AutoMegascript website did get indexed by g00gle :)

So, if other automegascript users might want to consider trying this or another sitemap generator tool, please do so and share your SEO knowledge and experiences here, ok? :p

Oh, you can find other generators by searching in g00gle:

Code:
 google sitemap generator

Thanks a bunch.

Cheerio :)

:) Hiya,

I'm embarassed to say that I don't know what default page priority is. :o

Is it something I put in the .htacess file or in the sitemap file itself? :p

Would you mind explaining a little more, please?

Thank you. :)

Using a sitemap is basic SEO. If you want to be indexed fast, a sitemap helps a lot.

what i did was different. i digged my site first, and got indexed like 200+ pages 2,3 days later

only after that i did the sitemap, totally forgot about it lol

now waiting to see how many will come up

I let a site with automegascript sit, nothing has been done to it. I linked to it from one blog, it has 1200+ indexed and is getting searches for designer hand bags. I forget its even there until it shows up in my adsense account

:) You're absolutely right about sitemaps.

Of course, I initially just wanted to see if the automegascript could get indexed equally rapidly as the blog.

The feedback from you and the other folks who have responded are helping me too. Thank you to all of you and please keep em coming ;)

P.S. I'd like to focus just on WH SEO techniques (or results from your own experiments and tests) for this thread for now, please :) Thank you.

:) Quick question for my fellow Automegascript users on posting new content inside the script.

I know that it is possible to add my own content such as articles using the "edit index page" function in the AMS script.

However, as more articles get added (e.g. 10 more articles), people may have to scroll through a very long index page to get to the article that they'd want to read, which may be at the bottom.

One way I thought I could overcome this is was to just post links on the index page. In this way, the index page becomes like a content page or an index directory. Thus, when people click on a link to the article, a new page opens up to just that 1 article they were looking for. If I wanted to do this, how can I "embed" the article so that when people open the article, the article text will remain inside the AMS "template, complete with sidebars, top menu? (Imagine someone clicking on a youtube video inside the AMS script. The video actually opens up with the AMS template/theme intact and the video appears embedded inside the AMS website. This is the effect I'd like to achieve for the articles).

How would you folks be managing the addition of new content or overcoming this loooong list of articles? Also, would you folks have any tips and tricks on scheduling posts (i.e. your own content) into the Automegascript?

Any other advice or suggestions would be much appreciated too :)

Thank you. ;)

Limit the amount of posts displayed on the index page. Go to Options > Reading and set how many posts you want displayed in the Blog Pages box.

:) Thanks for trying to answer my question.

MY difficulty is actually in trying to do scheduled posts in the Automegascript (AMS), rather than in my blog. :p

The AMS script currently only has the index page that is changeable. However, each time I have a new article/content to add to the index page, I'll have to go in and do it manually :o At least, that's the only way I know how.

Trying to see if there's a way around it :D

just looked up an old AMS site I haven't touched in months and it's just passed the 10,000 indexed pages in G. (traffic's around 100+ uniques/day)

didn't do anything special really - just changed the template a little bit.

Would you want to share with us the changes that you made to the template :) ?

Would you know if the 100+ uniques also "clicking" and making you money? :)

Would you know if the 100+ uniques coming from one of the 10,000 indexed pages? :)

Thank you.

my site is getting some traffic too 20-50 uv/day from G. my site only 1 mth old, but G alrdy index some 10000+. most of the traffic came to a few indexed pages. wasnt doing anything to promote it except bookmarked it to a few sites.

hope this answers some of ur question. but looking at this result for now, i believe this script is nice :p

Only template change was a design one, nothing that would assist in ranking/clickthroughs other than to differentiate from other sites using same template. Although I do list about 20-30 tags in the left nav on each section.

Traffic is converting into amazon and ebay sales but it's so low, both in revenue and conversion I'm not interested in doing anything with the site.

Traffic is spread throughout the site, cant say there's any pages that get more than others, but the video section seems to get more traffic than the others.

Hmmm.... now what if you actually started promoting the Automegascript website? :)

That might actually get you even more visitors and possibly make you more money?

My thanks to you folks who responded, and keep 'em coming if anyone else has there "results" or updates to share :p
