    Guys,

I need to some advice on a couple of automation projects i need to do in the near future.

    1) Scrape data from a web site, save it to a txt/csv file then repost it to another web site?

    2) goto a web site and login (taking the username/password from a local txt file) make a couple of clicks and pause for 5 minutes, then restart and make another few clicks and then save a record of the task in a local txt file.

    3) Interact with a windows programme (not web based) like ms word.

Whats the best software to use?
    Options are ...

    - ubot
    - zennoposter

Any advice welcome? or suggestions please.

1). You can achieve this using just about any form of programming/scripting language like Python for example. It's easy to learn and I thoroughly recommend it for these sorts of tasks.

2). Look for SeleniumHQ (Google it) its Browser Automation software that allows you to do exactly these things. It was originally intended for automated Website/Application testing.

3). Something simple like AutoIT is great for these sorts of tasks, launching apps, interacting, clicking buttons, closing windows, auto-completing textfields.

With a little bit of work you can achieve all these things using free tools. :)

I'm a huge fan of ubot. I have the professional edition and it paid for itself within the week. Very happy with such a user and noob friendly tool.

Ubot does export exe's Zenno doesnt.

I'd personally recommend Ubot over Zenno as of now for simple stuff like what you're needing to do. It's pretty straight forward and a pleasure to use for simple automation tasks IMO.

There's no moving "up" from one to the other. It's really just a matter of preference. Both can get the job done, it all depends on what you feel more comfortable with and what you are trying to get done overall.

Anything other than what you noted above my answer may have been different. And as the above poster mentioned, python could do this stuff easily as well.
