    Hello all

I am about to venture into the autoblog arena I have taken a slightly different approach to buying domain + hosting. What I have done is created a virtual machine running Ubuntu, MySQL yadda yadda. I have configured the server to allow 3 blogs per machine and set each blog up with Caffeinated Content, Themes etc....

So basically I have an image ready with 3 blogs, themes, ad's configured, widgets, contact forms, static pages etc.

Upload my virtual machine to a virtual host, turn it on, point the domain names, enter the keywords.

Then I move on to a different host with different IP, upload the virtual machine repeat repeat.... I estimate that I can setup 12 blogs per hour.

What I would like to know is if anyone else is using this approach and if so which providers do you use?

One other question is which hosting package do you use at hostg8tor for an autoblog? (hatchling??) I wish to compare my approach with my the standard way so I can calculate my return on investment.

If anyone wants a copy of the image, let me know.

    Thanks

    G

I use the baby gator package to host normal WP autoblog sites installed via fantastico at hostgator.. I think the hatchling only alows 1 domain iirc, so that wouldn't be much use unless you only wanted to host 1 site...

I also do this and I have a VPS with wired tree for another set of autoblogs.

I have no idea what you mean by Virtual machine set up! but good luck anyway, at 12 blogs an hour it sounds impressive!

OK, this is going well so I thought I would explain a little more....

A virtual machine is a computer within a computer, it has its own ip address and can share the same resources as its host. Therefore with a relatively fast machine you could host 5 servers all with different ip's on each of these servers you can have 5 autoblogs.

Its all free, I have built the servers running linux, apache, mysql and php (LAMP server as it is known). I have 1 server configured with 5 worpress blogs, a selection of templates and all of plugins (CC, Social*seIT, All in one seo etc). This server is primed for autoblogs.

Once you have the virtual machine ready, you switch it off and it becomes a large file (2GB).

Copy that file to a different folder and switch it on (repeat 3 more times).

Write down the IP addresses, use php.ini to host header redirection to each 5 blogs per virtual machine.

Login to the admin area of each of the blogs (25 in total now) enter your info in to CC chose one of the 15 themes then leave them alone. Because each virtual machine is a replica of my original every thing just works on its own now.

I am able to set up 25 in 1 hour and 15 mins now, I am not even paying for hosting as I have 5 running at home, 5 at work, 5 at my parents, 5 at my mates etc. Hosting for a virtual machine is $39.99 but I am cheap!!!

Everything is being indexed and traffic is getting some momentum now and the $$$ are rising. I read many articles on here that said autoblogs are about scaling them up as fast as possible so I to my 10 years as an IT professional and mashed it into a black hat mega assembly line!!

I am happy to help anyone out with this if its a little to technical...

well the thing is that you don't pay for VPS cause this could go pretty expensive :)

This is not the only way that you can setup so many blogs so fast. There is a tool on this boards called WPmanagerDX that can batch installs to an unlimited number of domains. With very little coding skills you may modify the plugins to have all the default values you want. WPMDX uploads and enables plugins on it's own...

Anyway it's a diffrent approach, the result can be the same, super fast mass installs :)
