Hello SEO gurus, I am seeking Wisdom....

I have regular html websites, with autoblogs in /folders. I was looking at my Google webmaster tools, and one site has 900 pages in the site map, but Google is recording 2,000+ (obviously, with 1,100+ not in the site map) How damaging is that? And how can you possibly keep up with site maps with an autoblog?

Another thing, this site has taken a serious dive with most keywords; I did build a lot with XRumer and paid blog posts. Bad? My new strategy is building with articles, it seems like a better, more ethical Google friendly method. Do you think the article networks are better for your SEO reputation than blog networks? (Of course, many of those spun articles wind up on autoblogs, so perhaps there is not a difference?)

    Thanks! BHW is awesome!
