Ok... I have yet to play with WP or even WPMU but I have done a few Joomla sites. Now I have an idea that I would like to pretty much turn into a authority type site, but I would also like to use some autoblogging. I would like to use Joomla (just because I like it and used to it) for the CMS side of the site, with a forum... but I would also like to use autoblogging with it. I also thought about having members have their own blogs/'wall' as well, but not use how I could put that together with them registering, as I would like to be able to use them for email marketing.

If I was to let them have a 'blog' it would also be nice if I could 'pull' some of their post to the main blog.

Hope you are able to understand what I would like to do, it's still a little fussy as I am not sure what could be done with auto. Plus I am open to any ideas of this idea.

Thanks and looking forward to any replies.

You would need a WPMU install and then have to parse the feeds into a secondary feed onto the main blog. That sounds like something I would only do for a major major money-making community-based idea. You are going to need a sick server if there is going to be autoblogging involved

If you haven't autoblogged yet I would suggest starting out with a few and get to know the in's and out's with them.

Thanks for the reply... though what you said kinda went over my head. When you say parse the feeds... are you talking about if I wanted to pull members blogs post to the main? If not please explain, so I fully understand.
That would be my first step to understand the in's and out's like you said... but ya don't know or understand till ya ask. Once again... thanks for you input.

I am still wondering how I could involve members registration with WPMU and say a CMS like Joomla. Pulling members blogs is only an idea and not a need. Any one have any ideas?

Well that's kind of the point of what I'm saying. It's so easy to make money off a normal autoblog running standard Wordpress that creating a membership reg site with WPMU, pulling content from your users feeds on the fly and incorporating Joomla sounds like ice skating uphill..

There is a good WP Membership plugin AND a good social network plugin that allows you to create a membership social site on a standard WP installation.

With such robust content control like WP I'm not sure of the benefit of Joomla getting in the mix after that...you'd be fine with just a few good plugins and a really good idea.
