Auto-like technique caught

So I've heard about people making a transparent like button that follows the cursor, but I noticed this one got caught on hackernews:

As it's gotten this much popularity I'm not sure if they'll do something about it, so I can't quite recommend copying it, but I thought it to be a nice technique...

Anyone else use this or a similar technique?
