    hello
I am looking for some advice.

I have a site that's #2, but it's not getting traffic. I suspect the reason is that there is no author picture appearing in the serps. site #1 and site #3 have picture. so i believe people are clicking on 1 and 3, without even noticing 2.
I would like to add a google+ or authorship or whatever it is that makes a picture appear in the serps, but there is only one problem: I would have nobody in my "circle". the guy above me has like 1300 people in his google+ circles, the guy below me has like 700.
If I add google+ to the site, wouldn't google say "wow, this guy is not very popular, his site has no google+ circles" and rank me lower in the serps?
what can I do to make sure this doesn't happen?

Or a safer solution, just add people/businesses in your niche to your circle every day.

I am not very familiar with google+. can you just start adding random people? I thought the other party has to agree to being added.

You can add people randomly. Circles are one way relationships, more like following on Twitter than a friendship on Facebook.

That alone won't help you in the SERPS, though. That reports how many people have you in their circles. But by adding people, you can hope that they add you back.

Another tactic, like someone else mentioned, is a site like addmefast. I used them to get myself in 100 circles, to get things started. Like you, I didn't want to show up in the search results with "5 people have him in their circles."
