Hi there - I've got a site of an adult nature that I'd like to link to Google through authorship. I realise there may not be any direct SEO benefits but as I'm white-hatting this all the way I see no reason why not. Are there any disadvantages? Is it possible Google wouldn't like this for some reason? It's well into the tasteful side of adult, but still.

    Any suggestions most welcome.

    Andy :)

I don't see why not. Maybe use a hot blonde chick with glasses as your avatar. To give the impression you know what you're talking about.

But yeah, I can't think of any reason Google would dislike this, unless you showed explicit porn in your image.

That would be a bad idea in my opinion. People don't really care about that.

Hot chick with glasses, check :)

Zidane - there's decent evidence for improving your ctr with authorship, so I would assume it applies (to some extent) on porn too.

By the by, doesnanyone know if it absolutely has to be a photo? Can I do a logo of some kind for the pic?

Ye that should be a good option, would make it even better if it was a personal site, like mynaughtydiary or something, then include the hot chick with glasses lol

It has to be a picture of one person.

I do not see this being an advantage in the porn niche, unless you are a writer with a following. Or plan to build a persona like that.

I think with porn you have to throw out a lot of the normal marketing hooks, the motivation for the buy is completely different.

f you are going to build a persona, get a proxy for a year and use this proxy for all the activity for the person you are creating, and create the persona on social media sites before going to Google.

I'm not 100% sure, but I guess you could. I'd always be careful on ''how provocative'' the image is thou.

I think there's no problem making it a pic of me / hot chick in glasses, I just wondered. I'm going to experiment with this, connect it to see if it makes a difference and maybe stalk some folks in the porn world and see if they'll follow me. I might not use the word 'stalk', though.

In my opinion! You should give a try, Authorship photo appearance can give you a bit decent impression.

I think it gives you more credibility overall to have authorship. I would give it a shot and see. I don't think it will have any disadvantages as far as SEO is concerned.

Thanks guys - I'm having a few problems with enabling this, the authorship testing page sas it's not working even though I have it connected up (apparently successfully) through the jetpack plugin. Anyone had the same problem?
