I've got a question for you guys. I just want to hear the best strategies you may have for the current situation.

I'm currently trying to create an authority site that ranks for approximately 45-50 keywords (ultimately). Right now I am trading content / onsite SEO services in exchange for offsite SEO backlinking, pyramid building etc. (all quite good so far).

My domain is aged (indexed in 2006 or earlier and registered in 2002) and my content is really good. I'm adding like 2 new 500+ word articles every week with different keywords. All is relevant and I'm planning on AdSense as plan B only.

Right now I have had my offsite SEO guy only spend 5 days on the project and he is doing really well. He managed to get one KW to rank #27 and although it is dancing, I'm still encouraged by his work.

I can continue to work with him, but I'd like to get some significant traffic within 3-4 months. That means I'll want to try to rank multiple KW faster. I'm wondering what kind of strategy would you guys recommend?

I'm thinking about keeping 5-8 KW for him to do within that time period and hopefully get within top 3 for them all.

Then I could focus on one any a time and blast it with services from the BST section here on BHW? Money is limited, but I could throw a few hundred a week at the site if necessary.

I'd like to hear what you guys think.

No keyword is over competition 0.55 (keyword tool) and most global monthly searches (broad)are less than a million. I'll give more details on that if needed.

You seem to be on top of things. What was your question? :)

Increase your frequency of content, and diversify the type of content. Add videos.

To get a status as an authority, make sure your backlinks are pristine.

^^ yes, definitely spend more on the content to speed up production.

If your looking for good services here, try John stovers pro SEO, any of botwiz/georgeBG services, bigBuddy and or linkPushing.

Also if your going for real authority spend some time/money on high end link building- do some manual link building, trade with some big names in your niche, get on the forums and maybe look somewhere like http://text-link-ads.com.
--some of that is a bit White hat, but that's my advice:)

Well, most has been said, but I definitely advise, if you have a few hundred a week, then get atleast one 600-700 properly optimized article every day. That is what authority sites do.

    Good luck!

    Well my question was basically:

What kind of strategy would you use to be considered an authority site with decently ranked KW and traffic within 3-4 months?

The answers so far have included:

Quality content every single day. I can handle that. I write all my content so I'll spend a weekend building up the articles and putting them up every day.

Otherwise, should I start purchasing services that do multiple KW at a time and are cheap, or should I start targeting single KW with quality services?

Thanks for the help so far.

Cannot forget getting links from authorities in your theme. Guest posting comes to mind, and scraping for blog commenting on authority sites (manual commenting with releveant and good content).
