Hello blackhatworld community. I have been recently trying to work on a lot of sites and build them up into authority sites. I have been looking around a ton at keyword research (since I have been out of the blogging game or a while now). From what I have gathered from many posts on here about keyword research I should be targeting keywords with very low competition and target pretty much anything considered low competition.

Well does this apply to authority style sites too? I mean I can only go so far when targeting low comp keywords and eventually you start to run out of low competition keywords. Content needs to constantly be updated on a authority site so should you not start targeting the medium to hard keywords too? I just don't know how to go about all of it with a long term site. :)

    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers

If you are not buying domains and building them to backlinks to your site then you are not dealing with authority site even if the web 2.0 has PR8.

You know when you search something on sie internets, and then you find a site and read the article, and you think:"Wow.what a great and helpful site.."?
Well, that's authority...Authority is not when a KW is in the title, first line of the first paragraph, in the subtitles, in the middle of the article and in the last sentence

OHH HERP DERP to me right? lol. I know what authority is but when you are building up a "massive site" or whatever people want to call it then I know its smart to target various keywords or have some kind of keyword per article. So by the post you have provided I should just write on the subject to write until it gains more "Authority" or whatever you would like to call it correct? Just provide helpful, great content and just let it rank naturally for whatever keywords its gonna rank for. right?

    Thanks

Using an excellent keyword tool and posting quality contents regularly will help you to develop authority sites.

Yep, It takes a while to legitimately build an authority site. There're tons of the subject on the internet in general, just make sure you do it legit and not just spam backlinks. That'll do a LOT more harm than good these days. Write amazing and relevant content. Tell people about your content. It'll happen assuming it's relevant..

Another example: Authority website is a website on which your readers share your content automatically on their social media profiles.

I'm attempting to build an authority site and you know what I don't spend to much time worry about what keywords to target and which not to. I spend more time deciding what content the end user would actually want and share. Some of my content isn't really directed at any keyword which people attempt to rank for. But today two articles were shared on niche relevant forums I have nothing to do with and these pieces weren't designed to target any particular keyword.

Authority is about providing content that is valuable to the end user. The end user will then share this content or keep the site in mind and come back and visit. The sites I visit everyday in my niche are pretty much all authority sites, I go to them as I know they produce top quality content and want to keep up with all the developments in my niche.
