As the title says, I've intimidated myself out of pursuing many of the plans I had laid out for myself in the past. I want to make this attempt different.
I have accepted that I must teach myself SEO to make it big in this game, and am prepare to start doing so. I believe I've stumbled on the best niche I've found yet (high adsense cpc, seemingly easy to rank with lots of searches for some kw's), so I'm feeling confident.

I'll update every time something significant gets done. Here's the plan:

    -Set up domain/hosting
-Chose theme and general website layout
-kw research (chose kw/long tail kw combinations for articles)
-write 20 ish pages of content
-add adsense and amazon where appropriate
-create tumblr, pinterest, facebook and yahoo answers
    -develop a SEO plan
-outsource article writing & seo/marketing once income starts pouring in.

Question: Should I work a little bit on every part of the process every day? Or should I focus on one thing at a time, ie: write content, work on theme, social market etc.

Good luck. Just know with stuff like this it takes time, time, and time. If you're going to go into it don't abandon it.

For me personally I'd focus on one thing at a time, that way you don't have a whole bunch of half-done stuff on your website. You want your website to look nice and have great content of course before you get it approved with adsense.

    Definitely update this thread!

    Progress so far:

Set up domain and wordpress theme
Found 40ish keywords that ill be trimming down
    Selected 6 first articles

    Minimum goal for tomorrow:
    Write 5+ articles

I want to write at least five 500+ word count articles tomorrow. Ill probably crank out a few smaller pieces of text I'll need to describe products in the niche. In other news, I found that my niche has tons of affiliate programs I was unaware of, some even having 120 day cookies which is great as my niche is seasonal but hitting peak traffic in 2 months.

Good luck dude. I'm starting a very similar project and I also made a journey on here. I hope we both are successful!

    Thanks brother!

So I've written 2000+ words so far and have 14 posts worth of content as of now. I plan on having another 1500ish words completed and posted tonight. Once all my articles are ready, ill be adding galleries above with a gallery plugin I found for wordpress. Every image in the gallery will eventually be a clickable link to the websites ill be affiliated with. I really wish I could get more done, but im juggling this project with my studies.

Just finished a brutal exam period, and now I'm back at this project with a refreshed conception of what hard work is! Ill be monetising this website with online shop affiliate links and adsense to begin with. Ill adjust based on results.

    Today:

    • installed and activated the Jetpack plugin to track my traffic. There's nothing better than quantitative data to encourage my efforts.
    • wrote another 1000 words of content
    • decided how I want to layout my theme for my website until further notice. Where would you guys recommend I hire someone that could customise my theme to perfection?
    • added image sliders to every articles page and will fill them with pictures once all content is created.
    • created a facebook page for the website that I will use to post 1 article per day once the website is complete
    • collected some points on AMF thanks to some macros I found here on BHW. Ill use these to boost my page likes and post likes/shares
    • in the process of planning the logo I will order off of fiverr.

Once I hit 500 views a day I will begin tracking clicks on affiliate links/adsense blocks etc.

    Today:

    • Customised my theme a bit more to my liking including creating a new static home page, customizing sidebar, related posts, menu layout.
    • Perfected the details of facebook commenting on posts.

Before the next update I will have done the following:

    • write minimum 500 words of content for 5 different keywords (menu items)
    • find nice social media buttons for sidebar & posts
    • create 9 articles to post on each the menu pages (so I have content for the sliders/grids on those pages)
    • complete slider/grids to my liking
    • every post will have a gallery with minimum 10 images
    • ill display ads from other websites to have a second revenue stream for the eventual traffic ill be generating
    • customize the font of every single page
    • buy/design a header for the site & profile pic/cover for facebook page

    Longer term goals:

    • generate leads and send out emails once I hit 1000 views a day for a week
    • contact vloggers in my niche to collaborate with them
    • design tumblr/pinterest/twitter marketing strategies

Unfortunately I haven't heard back from share-a-sale so ill have to monetize my website using only google adsense/related posts from around the web until I find a good affiliate program in my niche.

Amazon is always a decent program that can fit almost any product... Maybe that could work in the meantime? Good luck and keep at it!
