I had att dsl from sept 2007 to dec 2010 and had the 6.0Mb/s,and then switched to Charter. Well I had to go back to att dsl a few months ago and got 3.0Mb/s down speed. Yet when I tried today to upgrade to 6.0Mb/s down they said it isn't available in this area.

They said they can't go higher which is complete bullshit,They could go higher then 6.0Mb/s if they wanted to. If I contact their business section could I get it increased?

Why would they lie? They want your money and business. It's something to do with their fiber optic wire they use now. It doesn't reach everyone, so I'd imagine it has something to do with that. I don't think call the business section would get you anywhere personally.

Good luck with that. Worst run company since Enron.

I had a world of trouble with my DSL line on ATT. Switched to dual-cable connections a while back at the office and haven't looked back.

The 6.0Mb/s was on regular copper wire which is what is still in this area. Theres no reason that in 7 months to lower the max internet speed.

I don't see why they would have it available but wouldn't allow you to have it?

It was the worst run company long before Enron. Back when I had phone service with them, they drove me nuts with overcharges, poor customer service, and just plain poor service.

The copper is all the same it is the hardware at the end of the line that makes a difference. It could be that they have no more capacity for that speed anymore i.e. they are out of hardware space and they are not going to upgrade for one person. This happens a lot.
