drop traffic sites.jpg
Hello to all SEO fellows. I have a few websites undergoing off-page optimization using GP services. However, during the SEO process, I've noticed that if a website utilizing GP gets penalized or experiences a drop in ranking or sudden traffic decrease, it might impact the money site as well. Nevertheless, some colleagues argue that it's not necessarily the case, stating that whether the other website is penalized or not doesn't affect the money site, so there's no need to disavow those sites. So, my question is, does having GP placed on a site penalized or experiencing a decrease in ranking or traffic by Google truly affect the ranking of the money site? And is it necessary to disavow those GP sites?

I guess your question is whether you should disavow links after this update?

If that is your question then no, this update specifically targeting spam. I don't think disavowing links will do any help.

But always a good idea to test things out.

personally, I've not seen this, but I did hear people saying it's true, so I don't know what to believe. But I suppose that if google has all of the points necessary to make the connections they will penalized all sites in the chain, so you need to be careful where you get your links from...

I would only bother with disavowing as a last resort (if you can't bring the rankings back in other ways).

The other day, my website dropped in rank from the 3x to the 5x. Upon investigation, I found that 5 out of 10 sites were penalized. After disavowing them, my ranking returned to its previous position. Since I've encountered this issue before, I personally believe that websites penalized Guest Posting do have a significant impact on website ranking.

A lot actually depends on what sites you are placing your links on. If the site looks like a link farm and if site that is selling guest posts only motive is to sell guest posts, then you will have negative effects for sure.
