BEFORE YOU READ (or decide not read) PLEASE READ THIS:
I am pretty new to IM but I am obsessed now. I first really started to learn about IM this past Oct. 08 when I learned what list building was.

This is rather long post but any help you can provide me by reading this is worth more than you'll ever know!!

Ive recently finished the setup of one of my first niche sites and I am hoping to get some feedback from some more experienced blackhatters (or IM'ers in general) about how I intend to monetize from the site and add a viral effect to get more ppl to the site.

I will not say the exact niche but the avg target market is male ages 18-34 and they are into a certain brand of motorcycles (ahem..harleys.)

Others on here have probably seen me mention on here before that I had a niche specific list of 100K ppl that I was fortunate enough to "come across". I asked on here "what do I do with this list to make money?"

One of the answers was: "Build a niche site, fill it with affiliate products and your own products and collect cash". Well I built a niche site and have placed affiliate products and banners on the site along with some other things which I will explain below:

What is my site made up of:
    1. Niche Specific Content/Articles & Videos (news, tips etc.)
    2. Expert Interviews
    3. It will have a community "feel" because of the monthly contests.
    4. Thinking about building a continuity prgrm / training into the site.

How I intend to create a viral effect:
    1. I will have contests on my site. "whatever" of the month..you get the picture.

In order for someone to win, they need to get the most votes. (I will have a star rating system in place...similar to youtube) In order to get votes they need to tell all of their friends and everyone they know about the contest, and then send them the link to vote for them. Which equals more traffic to my site and more ppl wanting to sign up themselves and enter.

    2. Though about how I could use something like Viral Script to explode the viral effect even more. But haven't come up with anything yet??

    3. Want to use Viral Friend Sender in some way too....but haven't decided how yet???

How I intend to drive traffic

    1. Natural SEO from my content

    2. Youtube - Send video about my site to ppl in this niche w/ Tube Blaster Pro.

    3. Send video and info about my site to Myspace harley groups w/ Friend Blaster Pro.

    4. Forum advertising

    5. After I drive a good amount of traffic w/ these other methods, I will then start hitting my list of 100K ppl.

    Monetization:

    1. Affiliate Products and Ads (I will convert to paid ad space when site grows big enough)

    2. eBay affiliate "store" built into the site (so they can buy parts etc)

    3. A classifieds section. (so they can sell bikes, parts etc....1st ad free then pay to post classifieds after that)

    4. Adsense (for what its worth)

So FINALLY, I ask if there is anything that you, as a more experienced BH'er/IM'er see wrong w/ this. Or is there something else you think I should add to this (or remove) please let me know.

I obviously didnt go for the quick hit with my list and send them a bunch of random offers not related to there niche. I decided to build a site and focus on longevity. Something that can be scaled and/or sold off in the future.

So, what do you think?

You can add incentives to your site. For example, have them complete an affiliate offer for a year of free motorcycle magazines or something like that.

I would second that incentives would be a great way to monetize.

Speaking as a fellow bike enthusiest, if I were you I would get my hands on every harley and cruiser magazine I could get my hands on. I would flip thru them and wright down every advertiser in there. I would write to each advertiser directly and let them know that you have access to 100k worth of very enthusiastic buyers and you would be willing to let them advertise on your website or in your newsletter for a special rate or rev share or whatever you decide.

Theres no amount of stuff you can sell to these guys, from insurance, to parts and accessories to clothing, etc...

Wow, thank you. Its great to hear from another biker. I felt a bit alone there for a bit. lol

Can you explain a bit more about what you guys mean by incentives?

Right now I have affiliate banners up for sites that sell parts and accesories. I like the insurane idea...I never thought of that!!! Thank you!

On the paid advertising: I was going to wait until I built my visitor base up before contacting paid advertisers. What if I only end up with about 20-30K of those who actually continually came back to the site?

Do you think I should wait until I build up or just contact paid advertisers from the beginning?

    Thank you!

incentive = something for the user for doing something.

I.e. giving away a free subscription to a harley mag if they get there insurance from your "recommended" supplier (i.e. your aff link).

there are loads of things you can do.

Find an incentive offer, and everyone who enters your monthly contest must enter that. That's extra easy cash i guess! Even if it's just an email submit etc.

Right on Jammie, you nailed it.

Here's a suggestion, start with incentives, offer them a free bike magazine subscription or something. Check Amazon, they have great rates on some magazines. If you have a cpa offer that pays $20 and the magazine only cost $10, you're gonna make money off of every person that fills that offer out. You get money they get a magazine they want, everybody wins.

Now if you can prove that you get 100k worth of traffic and you prove that you have people that spend money on motorcylce related things. I would be willing to bet that you could have any advertiser in those magazines eating out of your hand.

Give it a shot and let us know how you make out.
