Lately serp has been really weird this day and we know it because May Core update because some of the site i've working always high in traffic and after may 5 exactly it just go down to almost no impression.

But i don't want to blame but instead i want to share a little bit about my trouble and if can getting some answer in from this forum.

So lately on the top 10 position for my top keyword the serp is really weird:
  1. there is only 3-5 real site that related to the niche that actually make sense
  2. PBN start getting to top 10
  3. guest post that in niche corona virus but some how cover about this niche (because some one buy a guest post link from that site) is actually rank higher
  4. google play, google site, pinterest, youtube, medium and other high DR web2.0 is getting into top 10 even without a backlink or anchor that referring in the niche
  5. even some short content site rank better than a fully loaded seo site
  6. i also found that site with full blackhat link system still manage to rank like it was clear the site get backlink from sidebar homepage like a lot, and spammy site (i thought this kind is already gone but well you know it back again!)
So the point is should i started to getting into this kind of techinique that this top 10 using because it doesn't really make sense (and yes i know that full black hat have a high risk also high reward)?

or should i just keep focusing on staying in the gray area and keep fixing and pushing more on my onpage just like google actually always told?

i mean i say here i am still gray hat so i use guest post, pbn, and all that link building method but i am actually playing it safe and secure like using my own private network, buying guest post and only put it on content not on sidebar.

but this method doesn't work like it use to.

So is it better to keep pushing in gray and just keep building a good onpage or we turn it over to the more black hat site so we can be like the top 10?

sry for the long question just to make sure everybody understand my position now :)

Google won't reward you if you go white or gray hat. They can even punish you... So, try darker hat.

Why not be open to both, and use whatever methods work for each niche, since everything is different almost every time?

Just be adaptable.

If you are looking at things from a very long term perspective you should stay greyhat
