I have just started out with pinterest (properly at least, ive been pushing images from instagram using IFTTT for a year or so). From my understanding, automation doesn't really work on pinterest as having followers is fairly useless (or is it?). If you are looking to use pinterest to promote a personal blog, it seems like you need to put some thought and effort to reap the rewards of pinterest. Was hoping to get some answers about getting started for someone who isn't great at creating original images but wants to try and get some traffic to a blog from pinterest.

Is there any benefit in creating a bunch of boards and repinning a load of content to get started? - The reason I ask is say you have a movie blog. I might make boards for genres, popular franchises and various other things related to movies. When I make a new blog post about something like harry potter on my website that i want to push traffic to, i can post it to a harry potter board and then all the related genre boards. Is this effective?

Can automation do anything to help grow your audience in 2019? By this i mean a silver bullet like things like the follow/unfollow strategy for instagram.

Group boards seem impossible to find these days. Whats the secret? All guides I read say to repin to group boards.

Both, I pin things over and over in the same places, not straight away in a row, I pin other things inbetween.
Yes it could if you do it over and over again in a row.
    Many boards is best.

Getting lots of contributors to pin there helps them grow. once a board is then big you can start to monetize it.

Vies = impressions, impressions mean diddly squat!

your best bet is to join tribes and other groups of people who want to exposure. trading posts is a great way to build links back to your blog on profiles relevant to your blog.

    Work in what way?

Are boars sections worth creating? For example, should i make a "cooking" board and inside have sections for healthy, desserts, dinners, breakfast etc. or is it better to create dedicated boards for each main topic?

Do you think it's better to have one account per niche or a general account with a lot of boards for a bunch of different niches?
Also, what's a good amount of group boards to be part of?

Scratch my last question. I found my answer.

What I'd really like to know is how do you determine if a board is even worth joining or not? What criteria do you look for? I see boards with a lot of followers but they haven't been posted to in a month. I see boards on PinGroupie that are active but have low re-pin rates.

Yes they are worth making, pins in specific sections will obviously have some sort of boost in the rankings when it comes to that particular topic. on huge boards it also makes it easier to find things. However with the ranking pins method I shared it does effect that and boards with sections do tend to send less traffic under that method than before. in part because the general section of all the pins is pushed down and is no longer the first thing people see. Create dedicated boards for each topic but have sub topics so for the deserts board, you could have chocolate, lemon, cakes, fruit etc.

It depends what you are promoting and what you intend to do with it. the more boards you can be a member of the better. however i think there still may be a 500 board limit.

You just have to do the leg work and search around a few profile. try and find some big tribes to join or groups that share content, you can usually find some great resources there.

I'm glad you are finding it useful :)

I have covered this, maybe in this thread or one of my other threads, in fact i have covered it a few times with some different info in different posts so they are well worth a read.

Do you mean the tailwind extension. just go to tailwindapp.com and I'm sure they link to it there or just search google. You will have to be using tailwind for it to work though.

Thank you for this AMA thread, you are the best!

I have 1 internet connection with dynamic IPs, I use it to run 4 accounts with no problem.
I want to add another connection with dedicated IP (for another purpose actually).
In your experience, is it safe to use it to run 2-3 Pinterest accounts?
Do you have experience running multiple accounts on 1 IP address?
    Thanks a lot.

I have no experience with IP's or proxies I'm afraid. I have more than 3 accounts and I do run all of my accounts from my home network if that answers your question. If by experience you mean have I dont it, then yes, over a dozen but i am not constantly logging in to them every day one after the other so it all depends what you are doing with them and what you are promoting. You could be doing everything seemingly by the book and all it takes is one report so you have to do a lot of tests.

What sort of thing do you want to track? Other than the analytics on Pinterest there are not many ways to do it. There are probably a few apps and sites out there that offer some sort of ranking system but I don't use any. There were a few in the past but with algorithm changes some transitioned to offer other services.

I had 5 of my pins went very successful (like 2,000 clicks and 100K impressions per pin). I wish I could replicate the same pins to get more traffic but nothing helped. I created new pins with the same hashtags and keywords targeting same/new posts and posting in the same group boards etc but they did not skyrocket like the first ones.

    Any suggestions?

How much time does a pin take to reach its full potential ranking? The ones I had success with brought me traffic quickly within 72 hours of posting them.

I finally made the decision to pay the annual fee for Tailwind. I was thinking about going the Jarvee route but decided against it this time around and I just found out that BoardBooster got shutdown so this was pretty much the only option, lol. Really, Pinterest is the only platform that I've actually made money on organically (meaning without ad spend) so it makes the most sense. Tribes is my favorite feature so far but I'm still finding my groove with this thing and figuring out the routine that works best for me. I've also hired a VA to send out group board invites for me. I'm apart of 27 so far. My goal is 100-120.
