    Hi,

i have recently started 2 sites. both have around 3 pages of content. Both are static HTML(using xsitepro). Both have been crawled by google and both are nott indexed.
Is tbhere sommething doing on where google just does not index below a certail level of content. this does not seem to be true in case of wordpress. Havve seen one competitor's website in a niche built on wordpress and has one post in a month. it is there in top 10. so is the problem only with static sites.

    Pls guide.

i tried jumptags and rss submit, site data shows that it has been visited by google bot but it is not showing in site: sitename i mean its crawled but not indexed. In your case what is the issue. is it just crawling problem or indexing issue.

i have multiple blogger blogs with only 1 post and all of them are indexed..

just dont worry about indexing and continue with your link building with an average or 30 links per day and yourll get indexed before you know it

    UPDATE:

What i was fearing was true. there is something going on with these one -two page sites lately. i have launched a third site with around 10 pages of content. and only pinged it. got indexed in 24 hours. good news is it has debuted at no. 1 at google for the targeted keyword in quotes and at no. 7 without quotes. and this is my third site in life. everything is whitehat. am now trying to build links slowly.

If anyone is interested, would like to start a group on whitehat strategies as what i have read at various forums, this is the only long term way to go other than the offline SEO business in IM. You can do blackhat but u have to be really smart and technically sound at it ( this category of population is really thin in the IM world IMHO)

You do realize that wordpress sites, even ones with 1 post, have way more than 3 pages right? There is a page for each tag they use, each category has a page, the default about page, the actual post, the home page. As you get more posts the list goes on and on of course.

I've had a single html static page indexed on page 3. I built the site as a landing page for adwords and wasn't even finished with it. I'd only completed the home page, not even made the other pages (however I did have links going to them that came up with an error because they weren't in my hosting yet). So it can be crawled and indexed with only one page of static html.

@italian hawk -- what is the period you are talking about. this seems to be a recent issue. how long did the indexing take?
my 6 page static site is still not indexed. so i do not know. they have been crawled but not indexed. it has been three days since launch. this 10 pager was indexed in less than 24 hours.
all i m trying to say is eventually it may be indexed but not as fast as sites with more content.

I have single page sites that have been indexed and ranked (and made sales!).

There's something else going on here.

It was for sure under four days, not sure about anything more than that. I didn't do anything to the domain though. I didn't build any kind of backlinks, didn't submit the domain anywhere, no pings or feed submits, nothing.

I have a wordpress site with one page of content of about 300 words that was indexed without backlinks in one week. The answer is use wordpress even if you want a site with a static looking instead of posts build your sites with pages and the flexi pages widget plugin so you can control what links appear in your sidebar for example if you are selling a product of the "brand x" you can create a widget of "brand x" with the models of that brand under it.
Just choose an appropriate theme and you'll get a static looking site with the benefits of a wordpress blog.
Don't forget some indispensable plugins like the all in one seo a sitemap generator and a good ping list.

    UPDATE:

finally one of my other sites got indexed. it has taken around 4 days. it is a static site of around 6 pages. so i think if you r making a static site with less than 10 pages, ur site is going to take longer to index. if its on wordpres, it may get indexed faster but that is for people who like wordpress. not me.
