Would be great to know how BHW has become such a massive force. I'm guessing there are over 800k members because that's the number in my profile and when I compared it to other user profile pages it looked like a user id.

Quality members and quality shares. It's just the common way most forums grow on the internet. If you have a big forum but most people are lurkers and the ones who post are just sharing not worthy stuff that will make the forum pretty useless.

There's 712,000 and most are probably either bots or people that aren't active anymore just since August 2nd of 2014 there is 91,000 more members. Daily average of members online per day is the only way to judge a forums growth, but only the admins and mods can view that.

All the good information as well as the large amount of posts 6+ million is what is probably growing BHW.

Is there an official backstory to BHW? Such as when it was started and why, who were the first members, etc?

True. There doesn't appear to be a DAU counter like you see on some forums?

BHW provided a right mix of great business platform and a homelike base for its members where unknown people from all over the world got united in helping each other get over their difficulties of home and outer world. There aren't too many places where this combo has even made the mark like how BHW achieved it many years ago! I think that this extra bond is the main ingredient of success of BHW.BHW has not left the lead position and I hope it will never in future too!

From reading some of the older members posts it would seem like BHW is on the decline but the traffic says otherwise.

There's still alot of good information on SEO on BHW. But there seems to be alot of BS lately on BHW about certain things no longer working when they still do.

The official story of BHW goes like this..

    1) 1945, second world war ended.
    2) Countries thought to make efforts to establish international peace and make the world a better place.
    3) United nations was formed.
    4) UN thought to create a forum which would serve people all over the world to make money from their home, so that they don't have to fight war again for money/power.
    5) A 5 member committee was formed to select members of upcoming forum.
    6) HARRO was selected the main executive member.
    7) HARRO started sharing methods and got the ball rolling.
    8) New members started joining.
    9) Downloads section was made to prevent people from becoming poor who would otherwise spend money on buying fluff materials mainly WSO's
    10) People started sharing, forum started to grow.
    11) HARRO retires and then BHW gets a new head "Diamond"

Rest points will be added by others.. :D

You sound more like you want to degrade this home of ours? Do you want one of the mods to answer it? I can report and one of them will be glad to see to it. Keep the thought of degrading or doubting away... Looks like I am talking to a previously multi banned member. Some guys will never understand what value means, esp those who are scammers or leechers only.

Apologies for the sarcasm, I am not intending to degrade anything or anyone. I genuinely want to know more about how this site became big and I think it's a great case study everyone could learn from. As for myself, I'm usually a lurker and have never created an account until now because I needed to use the marketplace. I'm also a serial entrepreneur and have built several successful businesses. I often coach new entrepreneurs who start off trying to copy empty "money making" schemes without actually thinking about who their customers are and how to provide value for them. Any experienced business person can tell you that value comes before growth in a sustainable business. I'm interested to know what growth methods BHW used to get where it is (if any) and believe this example could help many a new member on these forums.

I heard it was started by mass bot'n accounts. I have no idea if this is true but I remember watching an old video on YT about it.

What I'd really like to know is why popular forums don't have wiki pages. Would be nice if BHW had one.

I remember I discovered BHW back in 2009 when I was searching for a WSO in Google. Once I joined I never looked back. The primary thing that made me stay on the forum after reading a few threads back then was creativity. Open up some threads from 2008-2010. You would see blackhat methods everywhere (some of them being on the borderline of fraud). It opened up a whole new world for me, something that you couldn't get on WF with their shitty WSO-s or DP that has every single noob on the planet who has no idea what he/she is talking about. So you could say it was both quality and lots of help from members that made me stay and refer all my friends as well from other forums to join.

Unfortunately the quality has indeed degraded a bit. Don't get me wrong, I still love the forum and I still see gems once in a while being shared here. But the marketplace for example has gone mad - especially in SEO related services. The mods are doing fine but due to the nature of SEO, one cannot predict exactly how much value a service really has because of many factors. But there are so many shady sellers in the marketplace at the moment that ruin the overall good reputation of other legit sellers.
