Just did a quick straw poll search on some articles from GoArticles and ArticlesBase in G (selecting a Couple of sentences in the article and chucking it in google) to see if they were indexed and the results were I couldn't find one from about ten that were. These were all random subjects from 4 or 5 years old to as recent as December 10 publications. Did the same on Ezine and found around 50% or so were indexed..... Conclusion we know panda hit the article directories hard and is it would appear de-indexing content. Some directories it seems it is hitting harder than others. Article placement is not going to have the same SEO benefit going forward.. Unless it is quality unique content, is carefully placed (not wasted in a duff directory) and aggressive steps are taken to ensure the content gets crawled and of course indexed.... Do any BHW members have a heads up on what they consider good directory placement sites?
