I was reading a recent thread and saw this statement:

Because you have to have a lot of them in order to make decent money. Most people here, IF they are honest with you, will tell that it takes anywhere from 120-300 MNS sites to make the $3k a month you see here.

That sounds off to me but I'm no guru. So in your opinion how close is this quote to reality?

Well everyone is different, so it's hard to say. Competition is different, profit, conversions, traffic, etc.

I have MNS sites that get several hundred visitors a day, and I'm sure people have MNS sites that aim for a few doze hits a day.

I've been involved with MNS for about 4 months now. I currently have 7 sites(some performing better than others) and earn on average $3-4 a day. So if we start averaging things out we get this: $3 a day with 7 sites = $0.42 a day/site. 30 days x $0.42 = $12.60 a month/site. Divide $3000 by $12.60 and you get 238. So at the rate I'm currently going it would take me 238 sites to reach $3000 a month. Your mileage may vary but you can use that formula to estimate earnings/sites. For example if you averaged $1 a day per site it would only take 100 sites to reach $3000 a month.

I only have 1 micro niche site at the moment (around 1400 exact searches a month), and it's making me $4 to $10 a day. Keep in mind though, that the traffic is coming from multiple keywords. I think the best thing you can do with micro niche sites is target multiple related keywords per site. If you do that, you could certainly make $3000 a month with less than 100 sites.

Just calculate yourself with number of visitors and CPC. Assume you get 3%CTR if your KW has 3000 global searches and has $1 CPC you can hardly make $90 a month. Its a rough figure of highest earning.

How do you go about adding extra keywords to your site? Do you just write an extra article using that keyword, and then get extra backlinking and such to that keyword?

Also I know you dont want a product name in your domain, but is it acceptable to use a trademarked name as an extra keyword? Say my MNS is "How to fix a vacuum" Is it acceptable to have "Hoover vacuums" as one of my keyword then, and just right an article about how hoover vacuums are easy vacuums to fix? Or is that still a no no to use a trademark?

The only reason people need so many sites is because they're not ranking the sites Top 3.

    Start building links fellas! ;)

Clyde, what services on here do you think are good to help boost up rankings? Reasonably priced. I have 6 MNS right now and only have about $150 to divide up between them to get them all ranking well

Take this for example. My micro niche site is about "button down shirts". I would then create new pages on my site targeting additional keywords like:

    - button down shirts for men
    - button down shirts for women
    - black button down shirts
    - white button down shirts
    - casual button down shirts
    - etc.

I would then build backlinks to those specific pages with their relative keyword as anchor text (and also throw in some additional related keywords to make it look natural).

I'm almost certain it would be okay to write an article about a brands product. All those "review" sites do it. You're just generally not allowed to buy a domain with their keyword in it. But writing an article about their product and posting it on your site is certainly okay.

So your not actually doing anything to your main page at all with these extra keywords, you are just adding another page.

When you say to throw in some extra related keywords with the backlinks you just mean say my extra keyword was "button down shirts for men" then when I submit to someone for backlinks I should tell them to also use the keyword black button down shirts, even though thats not actually in that article?

exactly. I'm on my first micro niche site...and granted I've only made $3 in the first 2 months......

BUT, my idea was to note a main two word keyword phrase with good traffic and CPC that I might not be able to immediately rank for and then find 4-5 three word phrases related to it, all with good traffic and similar CPC that I could target as separate pages.

My site is what I consider an "info" site or I guess you could call it a "career" site...so the position itself is my main that I'd love to rank well for and the others are <keyword> salary, <keyword> schools, <keyword> training, etc, etc

Granted I haven't pulled it off yet, but it's a good way to basically double or triple the traffic from the main keyword...and that's not even counting the truly long tails that you start ranking for.

    Right.

And to your second question, no. I'll explain. So for the page about "button down shirts for men", for anchor text when building backlinks, I'd also throw in:

    - cheap button down shirts for men
    - black button down shirts for men
    - casual button down shirts for men
    - etc..

Wow I started a great thread here. Thanks to everybody involved this is priceless information here! The micro niche site blueprint. Asking the right question can produce answers to questions you didn't know you had yet.

Define micro niche. My guieline is that I shoulr make at least $100 a month with a site to jump in. That works pretty good so far :)
