I'm full of ideas lately lol. Anyways, heres my next idea. This may sound crazy, but I love violent severe thunderstorms, and I have always wanted to chase. I'm looking for a few others that are into the same type of shit. PM me!

I can only assume that you have seen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storm_Chasers_(TV_series)

Never done it, but think that it would be great fun.

Maybe I am messed up, but would love to have been able to go through New Orleans straight after the floods hit etc too. Maybe I should become an emergency services worker :)

I'm also a bit of a weather junkie - but my interest is cyclones, because thats what I get where I live.

have you had a look at weatherzone.com - I think it's a global site, they've got a great forum with a very active aussie section, I can only imagine it would be the same for your part of the world

Im the same way, and honestly I don't think you are messed up, it's just the rush. Its like being on the tallest roller coaster in the world when you're in the middle of something that huge and powerful. Then its the pure awe when you see the aftermath and what mother nature is really capable of. Plus I love to help people in time of need.

Btw, I was there right after katrina, but I wasn't in new orleans, I was in bay st. louis. It was just crazy! Cars turned over everywhere, ships through the sides of buildings, grass hanging off the top of the power lines where the flood water had risen to. whole forests of trees split in half....

I love bad stormy weather, we don't get much right now where I'm at but back in Indiana they had flash floods, severe thunderstorms and giant sized hail which would dent the hell out of cars.

My dad (God rest his soul) used to go out when hurricanes used to stroll across FL and I'd join him.. I've done the same thing except there's not a lot of hurricanes where I live - but if I ever go back to FL id do it again with my kids -- family tradition :)

One of the best experiences of my life was being in the middle of my first torrential Texas thunderstorm. HARD wind, blowing TONS of rain almost sideways, and yet it was warm. I ran around in nothing but a pair of shorts, stomping around in puddles and whooping. I can still see the driven rain backlit by the streetlight, it was SIDEWAYS.

We get lightening strikes constantly, and they are sometimes REALLY close. I watched one blow a pole-mounted transformer to smithereens from about 50 feet away one night. Love the smell of ozone, smells kinda like money to me.

I lived in orlando for 3 years, and lived through only one major hurricane, but it was pretty cool. I remember the weather there, it was awesome. It used to rain every single day at 4pm like clock work, about 15 good minutes and it was over with. Never seen that anywhere else.

This forum is so big and weird. I love it. I've always loved thunder and lightning. I love rain. It was an ex girl friend when I was a teen who got me into the rain and nature thing but now it so beyond her. There was one time that I was scared shitless though. We were in a Noreaster and the thunder and lightning were so wild it seemed like it was going to jump into the house and attack us. No where to run and scared. Didn't lessen my love of thunder and lightning though. Extreme weather makes me feel alive.
