    Hi,

    Simple question...

How can you tell this is for real and the the dream isn't?

What if the dream is real and this is the dream?

Lately as I look at the sky I've been getting a strange feeling of how fake it all looks, almost as if by intention.

I can't help but wonder, am I really HOME when I'm sleeping and I am in the fake world when I'm awake?

Some of you will think this is crazy talk, but some of you will understand why I'm asking these questions.

If you like myself have exprienced magical stuff you'll understand why I might be somewhat confrused, which I am I am confused in my very existence.

By magical stuff I'm referring to being able to dream about the future, not dejavu feeling but actually going to places and actually foretelling future events. I don't know how it works but I've had some really strange stuff like that happen to me in the past. And from my own exprience I can tell that time simply doesn't exist as there can't be a steady base for time if one is abe to see the past and the future as if it was now.

    Now I'm sounding like a wacko...Anyhow :) LOL

Let me know your thoughts, I know I'm not alone and I know something strange is going on behind the scenes.

    PS. No I don't use drugs :)

Lots of philosophers base their life's work around that simple question. Is there really a difference between reality perceived in a dream and the every day reality you experience? I think the difference is less than you might think.

I think we've all experienced dejavu or seem to have dreamed above a future event (even minor interactions with people). I think this might be a results of a self-fulfilling-prophecy brought about by our subconscious to match what we've dreamt about.

The human mind is a beautiful strange thing.

1 thing, your right about.."Time doesn't exist" time was something humans created to keep track of things, such as the seasons etc. When people talk of time..I ask them to show me physical evidence of time, and ill buy it.

INCEPTION! I loved that movie. One of the best movies of all-time, in my opinion.

Edit: Erik, if you haven't watched Inception, you should know that "dreams vs reality" is the entire theme of the movie!

Ok let me tell you about one of my expriences which was very magical...

I was 6 years old and living with my sister and my parents...
I was sleeping one night and had this strange dream, I dreamt about a old man in white beard and holy face, he told me:
"My child tomorrow your house will burn"
At least thats what I could remember....
When it was morning first thing I did was go to my parents and tell them the apartment would burn, they thought I was joking but my mother who was religious didn't lock the door when she went out that morning. (She used to go out every morning to help my dad 6 floors below in his office.)
Anyway I was standing there in the kitchen and staring at the bedroom, after a while I saw something come into existence from nothingness.
Half meter above the bed I saw a small orange circle thingy appear, it was turning in the air and changing colors between blue and orange, it got big as big as a soccerball and then suddenly it flew down on the bed and the bed was in fire TOTALLY not just a small part but all over it.

Obviously this floating in the air thingy was a fireball of somekind.
We ran to my dads office and they called the fire department and the police asked me what happened I said "no idea" as I knew they wouldnt believe in magic.

So I kept wondering who warned me and thus saved my life that day?
    Who tried to harm me?
How did that fireball appear just like that?

After the fire the police told us "The fire was do to a cable in the kitchen" Which was a lie so they would have a logical thing to say I suppose.

So thats one of the major things...
So in no way is my mind creating the event or as you said "self-fulfilling-prophecy ".

Theres something else in the works. I'm looking for the truth, saying that my mind is playing games on me is what people say to "appear normal and get accepted by society".

I watched like the first half and it was boring and I stopped watching it.

However the movie: The Thirteenth Floor makes more sense.

Inception covered that. If you die in a dream, and your not heavily sedated in the real world, you wake up.

One of the problems was when Mal thought she was in a dream, when she was really in reality. Since there was no sure-fire way to tell if you're in a dream without dieing... she killed herself.

yeah you can. if you're a sleepwalker you can get hit by a bus or trip n smash your head off the counter.

my dreams are effing scary. i once had dreams for a few weeks where my dead relatives are alive again and i honestly believed they were still alive. if its not one of these dreams i'm in my old high school running away from zombies/monsters/police and half the rooms are weird temples that should be in the jungle and have boobytraps.

nictotine patches give you crazy wild lucid dreams:sleep:

In order to confuse dreams with waking reality, we have to assume that dreams are realistic.
And we all know that all sorts of crazy stuff happens in dreams therefore not realistic.
I mean if you can fly...its a dream lol

This is what happens when you play drinking games while watching Inception ┐( ̄ー ̄)┌

I'm pretty cynical when it comes to anything of metaphysical nature and think most people sound like they're high when discussing it. It's pretty interesting to see how many people dreamed about earthquakes in Japan prior to the Sendai EQ, though! Maybe it's just a sensitivity to our environment, like other animals who are not so far removed from their instincts?

Here, try this dream cocktail and tell me if you cannot confuse dreams with reality

[copy pasted from my harddrive in a thread i found a long time ago on another forum]

"Nicotine does indeed have an impact on dreaming. I typically take B6 vitamins (100mg to 200mg), 5mg of Melatonin, HTP, and occasionally Galantamine (5mg) or Choline (100mg).

Those supplements will give you incredibly vivid dreams that rival reality, as well as ensure an extremely high rate of recall. The problem is that it works so well you at times, during your waking life, wonder if your memories are real or if they are remembered from a dream.

There are other, much more powerful (legal) herbs (Silene capensis, Calea zacatechichi) that are used for dreaming, mainly by Shamans to venture into the afterlife/astral worlds to communicate with spirits/the dead. That stuff is incredibly intense and I have only partaken of it a handful of times, as you really need to prepare yourself beforehand. You just have to meditate and focus on various issues in your life, and on the questions you need answered prior to the journey. These journeys can feel as if they last for days, weeks, months or even years, (but only being one night) but tend to provide one with a lot of answers. Although, when you wake up from those experiences you tend to wonder if you are still dreaming. "

    Hey Erick,

Dude, I can TOTALLY relate to how your feeling right now. I use to get into conversations like this with my friends, esp. when we get the chance to go camping and look up at the stars at night in the middle of the dessert.

To be honest with you, I don't think that anyone knows what this reality we live in is, cause everyone has a different opinion of it Some believe in the bibles version, some the koran, others the buddist or Hindu versions.

SO who really has the right answer? Who's to say that those guys behind the TV screen are right? They probely have no idea either.

100 years ago, we didn't know how to fly...
    NOW its a norm.....

200 years ago, we didn't know anything about electricity...
NOW, we don't even think about it as we turn on switch to switch in our house.

My point is, every century or so, we as human beings evolve with our ideas of what is possible.

Your not the only one asking this question creed, alot more people are asking the same thing. I think, as a lot of "new agey" gurus say, that maybe we are coming to a point where we are entering a spiritual revolution: not of the religious type, but we are heading into a stage of out existence where there is no judgment. Where everyone is FINALLY aware of themselves and all of the insecurities and bullshit underneath the fake fronts we all put on for the sake of ego.

Yeah, if we are to come together as a planet (which I think is happening more and more), we ALL have a lot of soul searching to do.

Remember, 20 years ago, there was not this many people asking questions like this. Now its happening more and more. Could be marketing I suppose, but maybe its something deeper going on.

    Wow!!!
Where to begin on a really 'heady' topic like this.

First off - kudos to the OP for having the balls to post such a thread in this
type of forum. Next, kudos to everyone who read and/or replied here for
relating to this type of thought/feeling.

If the title of this thread got your attention,
you clicked on it & read some of the posts here...
    there's a reason why.

I believe that we're truly living in interesting times.
So many breakthroughs are happening on a daily basis.
Major discoveries - both within ourselves as well as the outer world,
the universe, and especially - technology.

For example - Did you know that scientists recently found
Proof of Life on a meteoroid that landed here on earth?
Sadly, it didn't make front-page news, because MOST people are
too caught up in stupid shit like who just got dismissed from 'American Idol'
or 'Celebrity Apprentice'... or what crazy crap Charlie Sheen just said or did.

Most people seek such shallow, meaningless entertainment over
pontificating more meaningful things like our existence in this universe...
or exploring the collective subconscious of mankind - which proves how
we're all deeply connected. Very powerful stuff.

I believe that intelligent, spiritual (NOT necessarily religious) people
are naturally attracted to such information... IF they're (we're) connected
    to our true guiding impulses.

I'm sure that every single one of you has had at least one instance in your
life where you've experienced dejavu, or just felt 'something wrong'
about doing something (whether you ignored it or not),
or took an opportunity based on a 'feeling' or hunch you had.

There's a reason why we're all here... on BHW. lol

Perhaps we're not meant to know the true truth in our present existence.
Perhaps we are, but just not yet.
Perhaps we're in the process of getting there. I think so.

Maybe most people don't think about such things because it's either too painful
for them to deal with the reality of our minuscule existence, or they simply
don't have the intellectual capacity for it.

In any case, there's no doubt whatsoever that we're breaking new ground
on a daily basis. Recent years have exposed amazing discoveries in the human
brain, for example. More people are turning away from mainstream religions
and exploring their natural spirituality... thus giving the person more control
over their lives as they seem to connect with their source.

Am I talking crazy? Maybe to some. Shit, if I had read this 20-25 years ago,
I might have thought the same thing. (And don't even get me started on the
concept of TIME!!) But now, at the ripe age of 41, I feel like I'm just gettin' started.

Well... that's all I'm going to say in this post.
I have a lot more thoughts to share, but I must return to the real world now.

I'm gonna go watch my "American Idol" on Ti-Vo.
    **JUST KIDDING!**

But seriously... my kids are calling.

    Enjoy your sleep.

    Peace,

    BigDaddy

Well this indeed interesting subject. Im not really into drugs myself. But i plan to extract some DMT and maybe see if i could get some ayahausca at summer. Anyway i like to read the experiences people have had with psychedelics and there are quite interesting stories indeed. 1 Thing that makes me wonder a lot is that many people See same kind of stuff ie "Tree of life" and "God head". Also i like those ayahuasca documents, the shamans do some interesting thins on few i watched. I think ill go to south america in few years for a while to see if i can discover anything :)

take me with you this chemically extracted dmt is way too intense.:D

i smoked some a while ago and it was the craziest thing ive ever experienced. and i reallllllyyyy like my psychedelics.

first, i started feeling really weird then the room started vibrating (you can see millions of lines just waving back and forth) and you hear a loud pitched sound like WOOOONGGGGG before the room just turned into a water color painting (i didn't break through, was way too scared)

my room mate broke through. he was rolling around on the floor saying "its all good" completely oblivious to his surroundings.. nocked over my $230 piece of glass. he said he was flying through space. it's not easy to remember what happened.

http://www.thespiritmolecule.com/ check that out i bought it when it came out :)
