Hello guys ! About 5 days Ago I made 25 PR6-PR8 Wiki Links to my site. I was ranking 2 and 10 on the first page of google before creating the wiki links .After I created them...immediate the next day my site went to 36 spot on Google and 7 for my keywords . Is this a Google Dance or what ? After 5 days I am still on 36 spot. Thanks

Only time will tell I'm afraid... just keep building, vary your anchors and fingers crossed.

Sounds like a Google dance to me. This is quite common especially with brand new/newish sites to drop significantly after blasting them, then come back stronger.

Your best course of action is to keep building links, and of course diversify instead of just 1 type of link. If you do a blast and it drops you then you get scared and stop blasting it is apparent you were creating backlinks for SEO, if the links keep coming in then it looks more natural. I very much doubt it has anything to do with them being wiki links as I regularly use our bots to blast post mediawiki and macosx wiki articles to all of our sites without penalty.

Again though, its like everything else it should be part of your offsite seo campaign and you should make it as natural as possible and certainly not overdo it on a brand new website.

You are talking about homepage PR? And you made comment type of links? However, I don't think that wikis are dead.

You could, I would just focus on build more types of links and more links in general. Keep them coming rather than stopping now and get more diverse with both your link platforms and things such as anchor text and you should rebound just fine.

Wiki's are pure crap IMHO. Not to be used on my MS. Bookmarks are crap too now from my experience.

I use exclusively high PR wikis and they are good for ip/anchor diversity and they get indexed in no time. I don't build them and wait for a boost in the serps. Also i think your site is experiencing a dance, give it a minimum of two weeks and see.

What this guy said. I hand pick a lot of wikis and use .EDU wikis also. Its like anything else, the platform is not "dead", neither are the classics like wordpress comments. Its all about the sites themselves and how you use them, but more importantly your entire backlink overview. I also think it is a classic G dance in the specific case we're talking about.

That seems to be quite valid indeed. Wiki links are not dead in my opinion. Keep up building and add more content also.

I wouldn't get too wrapped on what is do follow/nofollow.

I am sure, one of these updates, Google is going to target those do follow backlinks, or atleast an unnatural percentage of them.

As someone else said, sounds like a Google dance. You should just wait for a week or so — keep building links in between, too! — and see where you stand after that.

We have been using Wiki links and they haven't had any adverse effect, yet.
