I'm new to SEO and have decided that my best bet would start off by first learning how to do decent keyword phrase research, then doing the research for a while, all while learning SEO techniques, then after finding my keywording using everything I've learned (am I wrong here?)

I think I found something I'd like to jump on and I've bought a domain for this keyword. What I'm wanting to pick up from you guys is if these numbers are decent to start from?

    from domain samurai
    Searches/day: 450+
    SEOC: 14,600

    google:
    intitle - 514
    allintitle - 514
    inurl - 948
    inanchor - 9,710
    allinanchor - 9,710

    sktool
monthly - 660 (why does ds show there is 450+ a day?)

All these numbers you see are all a load of shit & all keyword research tools are shit for showing search volume! (paid & free)

I just use tools for analyzing competition and forget what the stupid numbers say...just go for it if you really think there is a market there.

Iv'e just hit #1 in google for a keyword that shows 55k exact searches in google keyword tool, and MS is saying 1200+ a day.

    Guess how many im getting??

6 a day if im lucky! WTF?!

You are doing the right thing by learning keyword research first. This is probably the most important skill to learn. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the numbers. You will need to run your own tests to see how much traffic the keywords really get.

Ya I'm 2nd for a keyword that MS said gets 40,000 searches a day and I'm lucky if I get fifty uniques. Be careful.

I wouldn't dwell on any one keyword/phrase. In the end you want lots and lots of keywords going into your content.

This really seems simple, but if I would had grasped this concept a lot sooner I could have kept a lot of hair.

At first I spent a lot of time trying to find ONE keyword that was getting a ton of searches with low competition, which could leave a man researching for years.
