you havn't mentioned the cpu of the bottom one, but depending what you need it for, your always better with with more engine power over space, as you can store everything online now.

the bottom one is the best then, and the prices are ok, you could save a little shopping around, but you'd probably be wasting your time for the amount you save. Get it bought get back to work.

Those numbers look a bit overpriced.

Tigerdirect, newegg - great for buying new & used PC's.

You quoted the prices in pounds and converted them to dollars. That implies that you are in the UK, but converted so BHW members located in the USA would understand. But I don't think that works. These prices are high for the USA, particularly if you are buying a used machine, and if you need the best bang for the buck, why would you buy anything else? But they may be reasonably priced in the UK. It seems that computers cost more there than they do in the USA.

I claim no expertise to say if these are fair prices in the UK.

Lastly, if you are being offered these machines by a commercial enterprise, why not ask them to "GeekBench" them for you. With the results of this test, you will know for sure which machine is best as configured. Many sellers know about GeekBench and know the values that their machines can put out. Highest value is best. And make sure that both systems have Windows 7 installed as a 64bit OS, it will be about 40% slower as a 32bit OS.

They are very cheap compared to the average priced laptop in the UK. Go for the second one.
