I just read some interesting stuff saying it'd be very hard to rank a website if all you had pointing to it was web.2.0's and I thought these were supposed to be awesome T1 links to help you rank, etc... what back-links does a site need to rank? I know diversity is good, but it doesn't seem like tossing in bookmarks or blog comments have gotten me anywhere either. Just curious, what is it that's working? I've got a site I can't get to budge for a small kw competition, and the competition all on the 1st page has less that 100 backlinks at that, and their content is terrible, and they're ranking with it, 1 position the content is literally a few links, and then some blank dots repeated over and over again. My site is pretty good with the on-site seo, gotta be something I'm missing here?
