does anyone know a free or really cheap service that gives you your own voicemail box?
One service I use is called "Faxaway"
which offers a fax # and a voicemail number, for $1/month. The numbers are dedicated numbers (e.g. you get your own number, not an extension), and are located in Seattle ,WA.
I have had a good experience with them - once I figured out their interface, everything worked exactly as they said. You pay for OUTGOING faxes, and OUTGOING phone calls, so you can receive as many faxes and as many voicemails as you like for the minimum account maintenance fee of $1. They may gently try to upsell you on an 800 number (also very cheap) but you don't have to get one (and they never tried to sell me on anything...).
Best Regards, Georgie
edit: or what he said. same service. beat me to the reply button. heh.
i use k7.com but be aware they kill your account if you don't get at least one call a month!
I sure miss the Net Zero voicemails. You were able to get a free voicemail account with unlimited message storage and from any area code you wanted. If anyone knows of a similar voicemail service to that, it would be so cool!
K7 is cool though. It can only hold up to 20 voicemails at a time, at least in your home page. You can listen to your older messages from your email too.
thanks for the help guys!
the reason I ask, is because i'm looking to do some WH listbuilding & mailing, but I don't want to list my own personal phone # on the emails.
You can get magicjack. $40 the first year then $20 per year thereafter. Not free but pretty cheap.
