Are the effects of new links taking longer to be shown in Google or is it just me?

I can't remember the last time I created a new link and one of my keywords rankings increased dramatically within the first 5-7 days.

It feels like creating backlinks that have a massive effect are increasingly difficult to create now.

Feels like Google is going to squeeze the life out of us until the only thing left is to buy links or build dummy sites to get backlinks from.

For me hammering SB and xrumer all day every day they still have an effect just fucking weak and slow long hard work.

Also I'm stuck around 18 at my best so it seems spam alone isn't gonna cut it.

I too am worried about this and if i haven't ranked top ten in new year I will either kill myself or find a 'white collar job' then kill myself from the depression :D.

    Yeah kinda feel the same.

It's like the sites hit a wall and then nothing you do really makes an impact.

I believe that a lot of links don't do much for the site anymore. The initial boost doesn't come form more pagerank flowing into the site, but a specification of the sites relevancy for a particular keyword.

In simple terms, we see large increases in Google rankings which come more from the anchor text rather than the extra pagerank.

I'm seeing good results with web2.0 sites, blog networks and article submissions, then blast these urls with sb and xrumers for indexing and additional juice. Just spamming to money site is pretty useless imo.

Its strange, I'm seeing that with lower quality links as well. Maybe Googles implemented some aging element for lower quality links?

I still see massive movement with higher quality, high PageRank links as always, so nothing has changed in that front.

The web 2.0 strategy has many mixed reviews.

Some people buy services from BHW and say nothing has changed. Others say they have had great rankings. It is hard to judge how effective they really are.
