Hi guys. I have a website that iv been building backlinks for. All of my backlinks are high quality, hand written etc etc.

I have web 2.0, Question and answers, blog posts etc.

My strategy before was to blast these backlinks with a huge scrapebox blast and while it did work for a while, eventually my site would be penalized and hence drop in rankings.

My question is should i give these backlinks some social signals to give them more power instead of blasting them with scrapebox?

I want this site to be good in the long run. Thank you

It certainly helps for getting them indexed so I would speculate that it passes some extra link juice to them.

No they do not carry any link juice AT ALL. They only help with indexing.

Hmm ok thank you. Well what do you think would be good to pass link juice to the backlinks. As i said before blog comments worked for me in the past but always ended up getting my site penalized. How about wikis ?

This has been discussed dozens of times on here. He also has an outstanding reputation here on BHW. If you don't believe it, that's fine. We're all entitled to our own opinion. I don't blindly follow people, but I do take what he and others say seriously. IMO it's not worth my time to test it when MANY like Veheme have already done so and given the results back to us.

    Happy Thanksgiving,
    Con

    What???

I've tested Social Signals and have brought sites back from the brink with just social signals. I had sites wiped out with Panda/Penguin and did NOTHING else but applied Social Signals to them..

That is the reason Ronald Reagan said, "Trust but verify!"

I trust a lot of BH members but I always verify for myself.

Abstroose was on point requesting PROOF!

    That's how we work.

Social signals are much important this days, so definitely it will make the backlinks powerful and will help getting rank no doubt. But when it comes to link juice (which that causes increase PR), I don't think social signals can provide any.

in my opinion solcal links have link power as well ....... why they should not have. why a tweet should bring nothing and a lousy blog comment should count ???

i also have success recovering pages with only social signals.
and i would be also careful with scrapebox blasts. i dont use them any more since pance ..even on tier 2.. because i also think it could damge tier 1 on further the money page .. even if i would consider the chance very little right now but you never know in long term.

As someone that's tested social signals to sites (retweets, FB shares and to a lesser extent G+) I can safely say that anything they may do is so minor I was unable to detect their influence at all.

I recovered my site which was wrongly slapped as EMD. The site was lost until I build some social signals around.. I think this should prove its power from the SEO Perspective...

You know what this tells me?

It tells me that different people have used Social Signals differently and consequently gotten different results. I have never used G+ EVER and never will. Retweets work magic when done right, I have no idea what you are doing but they work. Social Signals work; that is why Google bought Wildfire and has been hawking that SS service like there is no tomorrow.

Like anything else, you need to have a well thought out Social Signal plan for it to work. I tried a number of vehicles; many failed but the ones that have worked, I've stuck with them.

Hint, Hint: Synnd, Socialadr, some custom bots and some secret sauce.

Social signals are very important now. But not important like "traditional" links.... Matt Cuts said something like that few weeks ago. He is usually lie, but maybe its true...

Social signals aren't necessarily good for link juice -- its a measure of virality. Say your blog post goes viral on Twitter and Google sees tons of referral traffic from Twitter, it would rank your blog post high in the rankings, see how it performs and then decide on an appropriate position.

    Retweets is where it's at.

I've seen no major value come from Facebook or even Google + sadly. It's ironic because Twitter is the most spammed out social media platform I've encountered.
