Found some gigs on fiverr offering social signals like 3K FB shares or 1K FB+100 G+ 100 twt. Even I found one new gig offering 10K FB shares!

Are these safe? Do they help in SERP?

I also noted that they do not offer drip feed. Will getting so many signals at once harm my site?

Safe? Yes. Help with ranking? Probably not. The only thing I think marginally helps with ranking in terms of social signals is Google Pluses. I remember seeing an article here that did a case study and at the end found sites with more Google Pluses or that had a Google Plus page generally had a higher ranking than those that didn't. I always throw a couple hundred Google Pluses to every site I own, it has never hurt my ranking. I'm unsure if it helps but it couldn't hurt. Especially when people enable Google Plus counts to be shown in their search results.

Plus, as we see more and more forced Googe Plus integration, it wouldn't surprise me if this became an official factor or a way to help index/filter sites in search results.

I firmly believe that "Illusional likes" will bite you in the end but if you're doing a "churn and burn" then it will have some short term benefits.

    Thanks for your reply.

Again, not an expert on the subject, but I just think it's too difficult to track. With billions of websites and social media pages and social signals going off every millisecond, I don't think Google bothers to track this as I don't believe this is a factor or something they care about. I think the more concerned party would be Facebook or Twitter or whoever, but even they never penalize for this (i have no idea why). I've blasted pages with 10,000 likes and they're still up many months later. So I don't know. You could always play it safe and drip it if you're unsure or purchase in small quantities.

PS, Like4Like .org offers G+s (its like Addmefast...) I just buy Pluses from Seo clerks because I'm too lazy though. You can get like a 100 or so for a buck.

    Thanks for your detailed reply.

Had you drip feed 10K likes? For how many days? Was there any SERP change after the blast?

I didn't drip feed them, and I noticed no negative or positive change to the SERP.

Why do people ask if things are "safe"?

If I wanted to I could hunt down your sites and drop massive social signals on it and there isn't a damn thing you could do about it.

And you think there would be some kind of penalty over something you have no control over?

If you sign in to your social media account and start going ape shit promo, then you enter a danger zone.

Everything else you have no control over.

in my opinion purchasing social signals is like setting your money site at stake. if any of those shares would mark as spam means the domain itself is blocked on those social networks. no further shares would be done in future. not any intelligent webmaster will ever put his life ruined for 5 bucks. since twitter and FB shares has no value to google. as this what Matt cuts has described in his last speech. here is the article I just read on search engine updates in 2014.

I was also thinking that....adding a bunch of shares at once for an old site certainly raise the eyebrows. SEs may think what suddenly happened on that site that went viral! So better avoid those gigs and if at all need social signals, better go drip feed.

    What do you all say?
