When I build a micro niche wordpress site, I install a plugin similar to Digg Digg which gives you a social sharing bar on the left of your content. Then I buy 500 likes and 2000 retweets from my fiverr providers. This helps me ranking on Google but I wonder if I can can continue doing that

You guys have seen actual benefit from social signals?

Are you sure it wasn't just the new site boost?

It really helps rank but the problem is this: one day you have nothing, the next day you have 3000 twitter profiles linking to you. Maybe in the near future Google can consider this like a scrapebox blast.

In Fiverr they use fake profiles where each tweet is a link

Be sure not to overwhelm the site with too many social signals at once, you won't be able to maintain that level and the benefit will be short lived.

Yeah, I agree with some people here when "blasts", probably shouldn't be done for sites you want to consider your tier 1. That's my personal preference anyways. Yeah, some things go viral (vids, pics, accounts, etc), but I wouldn't leave it to chance for my account to get banned. Better safe than sorry.

It works like charm if you combine several social media signals at the same time and drip feed . However I start loosing my ranking once I stop

It works quite well, coz so many people talking about your site. Just dont over do the process. You got the blast already, try to get 10-20 signals per day or on alternate basis. Obviously with diversity of title/keywords

I will remain sceptical on the effectiveness of social signals.

I haven't really seen any significant positive change in ranking. Much like others on this forum I use a variety of methods to gain rankings.
I haven't seen social signals benefit me or disadvantage me on either sites that are ranking well or poor performing.

I think there is too much focus on this topic in my opinion.

In response to blasting 5000 social signals in a day, i honestly don't see anything wrong with it. The G algorithm would already understand that a viral story is normally born this way - so a big jump in social shares would not be a negative signal seen by g.

I think its safe if you try to mimick virality.. if google starts penalizing sites for going viral, they SEO WILL BE DEAD (j/k)

Normally when you say something like 1000-2000 signals in short period of time, it usually coming from fake a/cs using bot. I would advice you to drip feed the process and get 50-100 signals a day..

Just dont over do them. I have few fiverr sellers whom i ask to drip feed. Every day like 20-30 for a period of time.

If you are buying thousands of shared links from one site like twitter then this looks strange looks even worse if you have 2000 shared links and no traffic from those shared links. Looks good if you have a mixture of shared links shared on different social networks and traffic coming from those shared links one shared link with 2000 visits is better than 2000 shared links with no traffic having traffic from shared links is social engagement its hard to engage without visiting.
