Are sites using WordPress as easily hacked as people seem to think they are?

    ^^^^^^

I'm working on a site using Wordpress, and I'd hate to watch it grow and be successful, just to have it hacked. Any input on this?

Don't use null themes, change your password and backup your data regularly

Regularly backup your website is a must.
There's no 100% way to prevent hacking. Just to be sure that your login details are not leaked, and only use trustworthy plugin/theme.

use WordPress security change the word press login directory set up a honeypot don't use admin as the username or any other username used to post and use a difficult password. That should get you started and the rest of the settings in WP security should do the rest.

As long as you dont install pirated software in both you computer and your server, keep your plugins/themes updated, download only from reputable companies/organizations and follow the standard practices for managing your account credentials, you should have no problems.

You can improve the security of your site by limiting brute force log-ins as well.

Keep your software up-to-date and install security plugins.
Back up your data frequently. This helps you to don't lose anything.

Oh, yes, back-up your data frequently because once is wiped is gone forever. This can happen when you're hacked, but there have been situations when the server fails for one reason or another and the data is lost. Forever. Cannot be recovered.

There was a case in these past years of a site with thousands of users that one day lost everything due to internat server errors, it's NOT common but it CAN happen. Better be safe.
