I have never used them but read a cpl sources who say they use them.

Im thinking if they help then I could start making bots for them.

I guess they are another spoke in the diversity wheel.

I wanna know how much from ppls experience they help tho as making bots takes ages so i wanna know if its worth my time or not.

Absolutely! We run Google News/Ask/Bing Packages for $19 and use SEO to get our clients #1, or at least page #1 of Google news...we see residual traffic and page rank increase.....it's pretty stout stuff

I don't think it so much depende on the backlinks in terms of the benefit you are getting. The 2 best things you will get is a link/s from high PR sites or an authority site + traffic coming to your site. When it comes to backlinks, this isn't likely the go-to move but still a good addition to the plan.

Yes, press releases send you traffic and get you lots of backlinks. I think they should be a part of every SEO effort. If you look around, you can find good sources that are cheap $10 - $20 to submit and get listed in Google news sites. You might try Fiverr for writing them.

Dude, you are killing me with that question! Of course they are good for ranking! How are you doing by the way?

Hey, this may be my 1000th post so I might as well share it with a friend! Thanks BHW!

I had an article about PR that I'll share with you once I find it! I'll PM you!

    Cheers

Ye, removed my thanks since I found the 'hardsell' tone a bit offensive; considering honour among thieves and all.

Yes welcome to the mile high club of post 1000 posts senior memebrs, tho i sitll feel like im not meant to be here due to high post count and low thanks :p. *low quality user* as they used to say over at hack forums :p

I await the pm and perhaps we can swap notes of what we've been up to in the interim since last speaking.

Ye press releases sort of flew under the radar in my initial seo training since they werent spoken about too much on here.

    Hard sell!?
It's a plug, yes - but a hard sell it is not, unless you're a particularly sensitive individual.

Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't.

They have to be news worthy to do well. You can't just write about..."Joes Barbershop has announced a new employee" and expect much.

It also depends on which days of the week you submit.

PRWeb usually is the best one. It's not free.

Here is a very old one that I wrote that got 10,000 hits the first week. I see people are still copying it - oh well, it was a long time ago anyways. Notice that I did do citations. It makes a difference in ranking and getting picked up by publications around the Internet.

I've used PR Newswire and it was about $2500 to do a nationwide release, what are you getting for $10-$20?

The articles fall away quickly and now almost none of the links remain so it's something you have to do each month or at least twice a year.

Press releases do provide pretty nice contextual links + build general hype. Recommended (if you can write good press releases, otherwise outsource).

    I am particularly sensitive.

Hmm I think I might get a 5er gig to test them out to decide if they are worth making bots for depending on the results.
