Are regular blog comments worth much anymore? I mean is it worth anything to have a backlink on a no PR blog?

EDU/GOV blogs you can find that will allow you to comment are usually spammed to hell. I have good luck with forum profiles and with blogs that you actually control on edu and gov domains though.

Yesterday a comment from a Do-Follow PR5 edu page took me from position 24 to 11.

it depends on the number of links on that blog. is it spammed to death or does it have no links?

Of course they are worth something. Every links count.

Your best bet is to get your links on page with only a few outbound links.

I have personally found that all links count to a point. I have never really gone after edu and gov links and have not had any real problems getting a site to rank for competitive keywords without them.

edu/gov links that dont have too many backlinks already are good but its difficult to find. I would still use these to vary the mix of backlinks and to show these are coming from various sources - commenting, press releases, high PR homepage backlinks, etc

I have a made a list of 1000 edu auto approved blogs and I'm thinking of expanding it and provide blog commenting service on this forums...

I've done this in the past. People mostly want fresh pages (profiles). If they're blog comments they want the to be ******** and have few other outbound links; they also want them all on different class C IPs. I would reckon that narrows your list of 1000 down greatly.

Love .edu links. If you can find them in your niche [admitted a minor miracle], can really make a major difference.
