Are my backlinks even working?

Hey guys.
I have been working on a blog for about a month now.
I have creadted squidoo lens, hub pages hub, submited articles to many sites using both manual and automated submission techniques.

Today I ran SEO elite on my domain and it only returned about 20 reported backlinks. I have sent out easily over 300 articles, each with relevent anchor text.

My squidoo backlink isnt listed and neither is my hub pages backlink.

Whats going on? How can I fix this?

Try marketleap.com to check link popularity. All I can say is that you will never know what or how google acts. Just remember quality versus quantity.

Use Yahoo Site Explorer to check your links. Google does not show all of your links even if it know about them. Your backlinks should be ******** or you will not get the link reputation

Do I have to specify links as ********, or will it default as such?

For backlinks this is up to the site your are linking from. The default is ******** but some people make outgoing links nofollow to protect their own pagerank.

You can check the source code of the backlink page to find out if it is ********. Easier way to check is to install the NoDoFollow addon for Firefox

It could take links weeks to months to show up depending on where you place them. Try an xumer blast they show up in about a week or so, plus your site will move up in the rankings.

Is that 300 unique articles or 300 copies of an article or 300 rewritten articles. If it's the same article 300 times, this wouldn't be unusual although I would expect you to come up for the higher quality sites such as goarticles or similar.

Google does not like to reveal links - Google Webmasters is better than link: search but not accurate. Use Yahoo Site Explorer to see links
