In fairness I wanted to ask you guys because I don't have a lot of experience in this field. I can write. I just hate it. Always have, and so the thought of paying someone $5 for 400 words sounds great to me. So, I gave it a shot. I used one of the fiverr deals I came across.
I don't know if I have ever been so disappointed. It was very easy to tell that even though there was a picture of a hot white babe on the ad, this person was clearly not from the USA. It wasn't just punctuation. It was a mix of punctuation and word phrasing that you could tell it was someone foreign writing it. The topic was pet travel. I told her she could write anything she wanted to about pet travel. Here is an excerpt from the title, "Stay Comfortably with your Pet when you are Traveling":

"The pet friendly hotels have the facility of providing emergency medical treatments to pet animals and some hotels have their own specialist trainers and doctors, exclusively for their staying pet animals. They arrange everything for pet animals and the owners are completely relieved of their worries about their pets, especially, when they are traveling. Traveling with pet animals is always a pleasure, if their pets could be provided with all basic facilities. When the animals are living with their homes, they would be leading luxurious life and when they travel, they have to be provided with same facilities and that is the reason that the owners always search for the best hotels that offer all luxurious facilities to their pets. The website xxx.xxxxxxx is one of the websites for searching hotels in various cities and the website is regularly by owners of pet animals for finding their best pet friendly hotels"

I don't remember the last hotel I visited that had their own medical specialists and trainers.....

Okay, so if I am wrong, please tell me but does anyone understand what they just read?" I do get it that when you have an original unique article and you spin it, it can end up kind of strange sounding. But this is the original article? So are my expectations to high? When you have someone write an article, are they supposed to actually write something that is true and make sense or is the purpose just to put words on paper because they are going to auto-submit blogs that don't care what the end product looks like anyway" I guess I worry that Google may actually look at the content that is being posted and see that it is mostly junk just for backlinks. But I digress. This specific issue involves the standard by which people judge a unique piece of content. Just a bunch of word with keywords included that will fly through copyscape? Or should it be legible, intelligible and comprehend-able.
The standard I developed was that if it was an article that I would post on my website, then that is an article worth paying for. But maybe my standard is to high. You tell me.

I've outsourced quite a few articles, and the article you provided is extremely similar to some of the work I've received from my outsourcers - especially those from India/Bangladesh and such.

They seem to have their own language, Ingrish (heh), that is just completely and utterly fucked up. They always seem to use the most random adjectives and sentences for their articles.

Nowadays I typically only try to work with Filipinos since their English is more normal and more similar to day-to-day US English. I'm paying like 1.5$ for a pretty good 700 word article, that's golden ;)

For $1/100 words or less, it is pretty hit and miss. Read reviews and check for samples first. There are a few sales threads on here that promise quality for that much, but I haven't tried them yet.

For $2/100 you can start to get more reliable service. I have a friend that is good that works for that, and I've seen other similar offers that I trust as well.

I think you just have to try a bunch until you find one that is right for you. Worse thing that happens is you are out $5

Hi.. would guess the writer of the article might be Indian, and I am from India too and can find shades of mother tongue influence on the article. The disadvantage working with an Indian writer is that the country has like 30+ languages, and the influence of any of these languages/cultures can affect your article.

Looking at an article written from a grammatical perspective, I do not think an average filipino would fare better than an Indian.

Saying that, some of the world's finest writers today are Indians and I know several world class SEO writers from India. You just need to hunt for the right guy/team depending on your quality expectations.
