Are most people on this forum just foreign language lurkers?

I put up a method, I got 200 views, and only 2 people commented saying great method, i dont really care but was just interested. So im thinking the other 198 just went off on their way to implement it. Im just wondering if blackhatworld had any stats on how many people are actually full time lurkers, i think the graph would be this. Yesterday i met a guy whos been on the forum for 10 years and made his first post yesterday haha (not that i have much morre, i have been averaging 1 post a week for 7 years haha

I've lurked on this forum for about 6 years. You can see I didn't actually create an account until this year. I waited until I actually had useful info to contribute. I didn't want to be just another "cool post, thanks!" kind of person. I've gotten so much value out of this forum over the years between learning cool tricks, software reviews and discounts on software. That's why I get on here and try to provide good responses. Trying to pay it back a little bit.

Fair enough, i guess there are a lot of people like this. I have definitely gotten a ton of value as well from this forum. Probably going to donate to jr vip soon. Sometimes it gets a bit scary with the lurking i feel like Google spam staff also lurks on these hehe.

Same here. I simply just do not know enough to contribute. The more I learn, the more I can contribute.

Haha, yeah, I was surprised about it. I pick this name where I can because it's a heck of a time trying to track this footprint. Hahahaa. Some might have thought I did it because of ego. Nope. I'm a humble dude. I just don't like to leave footprints.

Google Employee: "Yeah, so I searched for this guy's name... and... umm. He's everywhere."

We've all been there. Just don't make this newb mistake: learning indefinitely. Test too. Testing is how you'll figure out the cool stuff you want to share rather than just making a thread that "introduces" a method that has been submitted a million times before. Keep it up and stay humble.

New Post: "Unbelievable method to rank in Google! Google Now Uses Links In Their Algo!! Get Links to Rank NOW!"

Yeah, I have been 'learning' a while. More like: getting overwhelmed with my 9-5 job, forgetting about my grand plan that I am trying to puzzle together. Repeat. Need to get on this shit, already.

I will tell you exactly why the forum and people are the way they are:

Trolls are paid to be sure no true insight is shared, and no grouping together happens. Just think of how facebook is a perfect example of this. It killed the internet and the paid troll sock puppets took the forums over once the smoke screen has cleared. If I recall correctly, this is the episode of american greed where the feds admit to earning the trust and easily becoming moderators of all the forums on the internet
It gets good at the end. It's not that anybody does anything illegal, it's just that they have people making sure you don't grow a brain or start a group of like minded great thinking people.

New members who are paid trolls troll old members out and ain't nobody got time for that so everything turns to crap.

The other problem is that you can't say "Send me a PM" without getting banned for soliciting. I have so many great business ideas to share, but what's the point of having the pm for more info feature if you get banned in forums for using it ?

I think that's a regular feature of forums. A lot more registered members than active ones, and then the active ones are split between the ones you see posting *everywhere* (at least it seems like it) and the newbies or those who post randomly. Look at my post count and the age of my account. ;) I just didn't visit BHW for a long time, or more than once or twice per year for several years. Nothing to be worried about, it just is what it is.

Yes, yours is legit, but let me get a little specific.. there is a bmw and also a mercedes forum, which had 5k to 20k people in their off topic forums alone as regular members. (today they have 20k total) People went from posting banner ads on the site and selling keychains for cars out of their garage, to being warehouse distributors of car parts within 4yrs time. This was back in 2000s.

About 2010 to 2012... By 2012 the sockpuppets were in full swing, assassinating the character of any good poster online, controlling the dialect... Forcing people to abandon forums and go to facebook. Just look at the post counts and do some math... some people have a full time job to post character assassination stuff in forums, to drive key users out, while the key positions are taken over.

After infiltrating all the forums and basically making all of the people go to facebook... (atleast with myspace you had a choice if you wanted to use it or not. Now they make you use facebook to get a job, and what if your family or brothers and sisters dont get along on facebook??) so the next iteration is going to be worse. Luckily homeruns are still hit every day, by savvy people in every niche. Forums just aren't what they used to be but it's still our opportunity to take and use the platforms while we still have access.

I used to lurk this forum for a year before making an account. I just don't have much to contribute yet...

It's not just a case of that, a lot of people give good advice on here and majority don't even have manners to say thank you by clicking the like button on the right ( the one with the thumbs up ).

OP didn't see your method thread (just went through it now), have to say have seen similar methods in the past so it wasn't new but it isn't a bad method.
IMO The reason it didn't get much feedback is because it actually requires some work, a lot people on BHW are f#cking lazy so if a method involves more than 2 steps they lose interest and spend their time searching for paypal money maker bot.

Don't be disheartened, if just one person tries it and makes a few bucks then you have helped somebody.
