are more people reading blogs than watching YouTube?

I was wondering if I should blog or make a YouTube channel I dont care about money I just want more people to read/watch what I make.

Do both if possible

Do what’s fun for you. I hate writing but I love making videos. So YouTube would be a no brainier for me. That’s the only way you can keep working on your projects without burning out.

I would like to focus on one so that I can give it my 100% instead of doing both of them with only a 50% effort.
If I made a blog or a YouTube channel I would like to do the other one eventually but I would like to start with one.

I Love both but I dont know if YouTube is good to the point that makes me tolerate being under their mercy or if blogging have enough potential to make me want to start with it instead.

There are channels that make videos based on wikipedia articles and raking in tons of views (and money). This means people don't read anymore, everyone prefers things read out to them. And who reads blogs anymore hopping around domains to find out whos saying what? Everyone worth reading is writing on facebook, or microblogging on twitter. Even established blogs are having to share new posts on these platforms to get traffic.

Google processes over 3.5 billion searches per day.

google have 5.6 billion a day (not sure how many are for blogs) while 5 billion videos are watched on YouTube every day
someone who search google for reading is going to read more than a page on average but there is more web pages than YouTube videos out there.
I didn't find statistics about which have more views on average so If you have please tell me.
videos take more effort and you are going to be at YouTube mercy so If a blog can bring me half the views I would forget about youtube.

Since you're interested in focusing on one aspect, I suggest blogs

Once your site starts to drive a substantial amount of traffic, you can outsource most of the stuff and literally take your hands off the driving wheel.

It's easier to send traffic to a youtube video from a blog than it is to send traffic from a video to a blog. I suggest starting with a website first and, in combination, make a youtube channel to go along with it. This also opens up an option to monetize your own videos without youtube monetization (or with both), with your own over video ads.

people always read blogs, they love them.

What is the best, a book or a movie?

Both are an amazing entertainment, we can't say one is better than the other.

Blogs and podcasts is the same.

I am honestly not sure dude...

And reading has some magnetic emotion with someone which is different than video when most of the time you watch one after another.

Writing and Videos make two different content are for 2 different audiences. It could work well if you have interest in both if you blend them well.

Lol, reading any website/blog vs watching youtube can't be compared

and you should only focus on youtube, because you would lose a lot of energy and time to write

obviously, youtube > anything on this planet in terms of time spent on a website and probably revenue by monetization only too, lmao

start where the people already are. youtube and slowly build out your site with good seo and good things will happen.
