Do you think Micro Niche Sites are a thing of the past?
Just curious to know everyone's opinions.
Yeah. Kind of. Many MNS are down to page 2 or more. Now time to create an authority site.
No. stick to it, scale up and it'll pay off.
Depends on how you see it. The time I spent on creating 2 MNS sites one year ago (1 week) I'm spending on creating 1 authority site nowadays.
I have moved from 2500 words (4 articles) per site to 8000 words per site (10 articles).
I recently got Site Links in the SERP for one of my sites which is basicly a MSN site but has close to 10 articles.
MNS that have 5+ articles related to the main keyword are okay and thriving more than ever. The basic MNS that have 2-3 articles that are being backlinked to the main keyword only are slowly dwindling away
Bump for some more responses, interesting views certain people have
My site was basically a MNS but I have greatly expanded it and am trying to make it an authority site. I have about 500 articles now and I am actively adding 5-10 articles per day. The articles are anywhere from 500-4,000 words.
How many indexed pages do you think I need to have before my site would be considered an authority site?
My articles usually get indexed by google within a few minutes, which is interesting...
They are alive and well. I'm not saying this because I own a MNS service either, because I have a buddy who makes $XXXX/day off MNS's. Just buy em (or build em), get them ranked, watch the dough roll in, rinse, and repeat.
I have a newer site, only 2 articles it was in dance mode for a while (because it is only 2months old or so)
It is now steady first page #3 for main keyword (outranking google places) and #1 for multiple long tails and LSI keywords.
You would know what you're talking about, and I've got to agree with you. I see lots of MNS's ranking highly in Google when I do my keyword research. I've read a few of the members here make money with MNS's too.
It's always better to add more content to your sites, but I don't think MNSs are in the past.
I have question for you - how do you link those MNS sites? I places Adsense on them, they were earning some money for a few days, but after 2-3 weeks there are ranking worse and worse. Domains were fresh with about 10 articles - I linked each with about 20 directories (PR3+). I don't know if it's safe to but link profiles and other similar solutions - I don't know If google could ban your Adsense account if they ban your domains...
Depends on how thin they are. Having a network of 20+ micro niche sites that get new content every week/month is still very strong post Penguin.
I don't get why some guys just don't add a few more articles to their MNS. If there are only a couple of articles, there's a good chance that it will be irrelevant in the SERPs. Pack those MNS with dozens of articles and rank for longtails as well.
MNS are certainly not dying. You should keep on adding good readable content and add quality backlinks to the. Also add some more long tail keywords to your articles. They are and will always be around just in a different shape and form.
My MNS just hit #1 position of google this morning... currently at 70UV and theres still lot of hours in the day. Already got 3 clicks since ads are relevant for the niche! and I haven't even monetized this site fully.. just added adsense 4 weeks ago.
makes me want to build more!
So no they're not dying
