it depends what u are using them for. for blogs fe they are perfectly fine and for google it doesnt matter if .com or .info. and if u need alot of domains, like autoblogs, they are way better because they are around $1.
if u want to have one single site that should get alot of traffic i would obv go for the .com domain.
Infos are just fine! I started a new .info domain a month ago competition in yahoo 28m and i am on the first place... I have 0PR and outperforming sites with pr 4. It's WH only site
When is the last time you remembered anybody's address that ended in dot info? Or for that matter, any dot [not com] address. I can barely remember the government of the universe is dot gov. Settle down, it was a joke. They are just the rulers of the tri-lateral committee. LOL
Of course though, it depends on what you are using your domain for. You can get a great deal right now for dot coms though.
I've gotten in top 10 on google with .info within 2 weeks. I was above many .coms that been around longer. If you are better at SEO then yes you will rank higher than someone regardless of domain extension.
.info's are great as long as you don't worry about branding.
Google could care less.
I used to use loads of .info's to make web proxies since they were cheap and burned out fast. Now I am wiser and don't need as many.
dot com is only really popular because most people are clueless about most internet stuff.
There is NO technical reason why a .com or .info will make any difference.
Remember they are actually only disguised IP addresses for people that need names and not numbers, like you and me.
They are as you know translated by DNS
Any domain can get anywhere on SERP's if it has good relevant content that people want to visit again and again. It is the site not the disguised number that is relevant.
Ask Joe Soap in the street to mention a domain name and he will end it in dot com, that is the only reason for their popularity.
SERP's see numbers not names.
I do not want peeps to know this as it means I can scoop up relevant keyword domains (words SERP's do look at) regardless of the ending .com .info .smallplanettotheleftofSaturn
It's really all about traffic and money. For a long time there was a strong loyalty to .com that recently has begun to fade. Smart buyers know what there buying is traffic, seo, rankings, etc... and your monitazation model. Yes dot com would be nice, but it takes a back seat to those other 2.
