As the title says, I was wanting some feedback from some people who have past experience with with keywords that have "how to" in the title. I know all of them may not be worth ranking for but if they have high search volume are they still decent to rank for? I have a keyword that gets 20k searches a month but it is a how to keyword. I did some research to find the keyword and I feel its a decent keyword but would hate to waist my time on it just to find out "how to" keywords suck and have no value what so ever.

Thanks guys and gals

I think you could make money from adsense but thats about it.

But then again im not that creative :)

I think "how to" keywords don't bring in a lot of conversions if you are doing CPA/PPD or affiliate stuff, as they would already be quite tired searching for their problem.

well, i don't have that much experience with ranking "how to" keyword, only a lil :D. But would like to share my XP.

they are not tottally useless, but remember this, they are content keyword, that means, the searcher are looking for more info, not to buy something. So if you are better off not try to sell anything. But you should try content lock.

You can do this: n the beginning of the article, you can put something like "to fully understand this, you can grab our ebook for free, just some hassle from filling some survey." add your own twist lol

You can monetize this one, not totally sure if this work for you, but totally worth a try.

Hope that helps.

Yea see It does have a product associated for the keyword but its pretty much a "how to cure cancer" kind of keyword. May be some products for it but doesn't mean they are going to work haha. I just figured with that many searches even with some adsense on the site I might get some money that way from it but who knows. I like your idea of content locking the page. People might be willing to do the offer if the answer is actually probably unobtainable. Thanks!

Every piece of content can be a landing page. Depends if you'd find a way to monetize it :) I would say go for it, even if it doesn't have a purchase intent.
