Are the Google Adwords Keyword Planner search volumes actually correct? My website is called (example) "mywebsite" spelled together. My website ranks 1st for the keyword "mywebsite" spelled together.

In Google Adwords Keyword Planner, it is showing nearly 1,000,000 searches for the keyword "mywebsite" every month for the past year. This cannot be correct? Or otherwise, my site should get more traffic than 10 people per day lol..

Have I understood something wrong? Please help a newb.

this is very dramatic situation you are in.. I think that volume shown by keyword planner is correct , but even a space can also ruin the things , instead give the real keyword so we can figure it out

Hmm.. I'm literally typing it in just as it's spelled (together), which when searched on Google, always gets my site first irrespective of the location.

I think it's against the forum etiquette to link directly to our own sites, which writing the keyword would basicallyd do, but I'll give you a very similar example to my site.

Lets say my site is funnygadgets.com.. and my keyword is 'funnygadgets'. This would be a very similar keyword, with similar search volume.

Have you tried searching with a different browser that's not cached?

The keyword planner results should be taken with a grain of salt, in saying that it is the best indicator that we can get as to popularity of a certain term. Have a look a the longtail variants of the keyword and look at their search volume. As queensofhearts said above, try checking with a browser that is not cached as it may be influencing your search results.

If you don't use brackets you get broad search results. Try again using this syntax: [funnygadgets]

Thanks for the tips! I have tried ingonito window on chrome, tor browser etc but it makes no difference, my site always pops up first for the keyword. Searching with brackets makes no difference for me on Google search or the keyword tool.

I can have a look if you want and are not afraid to PM me the keyword. Your stats can't be true, either you make some mistake with keyword tool or you are not looking correct search results. You should also notice that if the 1,000,0000 searches are made mainly in US you should use google.com to check not google.co.th which would give you totally different results.

Ohh I think I found the mistake now! I was using the wrong tool. On Keyword Planner, I searched using the first option "Find new keywords" and then it displays a million average searches (must be for all the suggested terms together or something).

Now when I used "Get search volume data and trends" on the "Plan your budget and get insights for keywords" I get it right. 0 seaches for my keyword with no space (lol -_-), and under 100 per month with space :D

This must be it, otherwise happy to PM it to you.
