Hi!

I would like to know if using OpenShift free hosting provided by Red Hat can have a negative impact in terms of SEO? Does Google give more weight to websites that are hosted on BlueHost or Godaddy for example?

Thanks!

Hello,

I can't give you a clear answer on that but what I can tell you is that Godaddy,BlueHost,"Premium hosting comp.",etc offers you better speed compared to any free hosting company. That being said, bad hosting may influence your rankings.

When you go to paid hosting, opening of your website will be fast than of free hosting. Surely it will help your website traffic, nobody wants to keep waiting.

The website is pretty fast. On Pingdom speed test, the load time for the homepage is between 700 ms to 2s. I am using Cloudflare to boost the speed + a cache plugin. I will move the website to paid hosting if it becomes successful.

It's not about free hosting or paid hosting, I know some free hosting packages a lot faster than garbage shared premium hosting. You must buy your own IP address to host your own site or sites.
When you use a premium shared hosting your site is sharing the same IP with other hundred sites, if only one of these sites are spam sites or simply are penalized by google your SEO could be affected.
