Are external links that important????

    Hey! as using the easy wp seo i found that one of the factors to get good seo qualification is to have inside your content a "keyword in anchor text of at least one external link" and i was like what? this will not make that this particular site have a better position than mine? what do you think about this?

    I sometimes have a relevant high authority outgoing link and believe it works, but haven't noticed much difference myself.

    It helps because it shows relevance between the sites. It doesn't provide a huge amount of juice but it helps. If the site you're linking to is highly relevant for this keyword and you're linking to it, and it makes sense contextually (within the surrounding content), it will only show that your content is relevant.

    Yes, it will benefit the external site, but consider it a psuedo-symbiotic relationship.
