I have a site where I'm going to be putting up a bunch of manuals that are in PDF format.

If I use a plugin like DirtySuds - Embed PDF will Google index the content, or will it treat it as a picture and just move past it?

Does anyone know of a way to get Google to index PDFs if the above doesn't work?

    Thanks ahead of time.

    I think they are...

PDF files are google-able after all.

AFAIK, Google indexes PDFs. See for yourself.

    Code:
    seo inurl:.pdf
Also, the plugin you mentioned will use Google Docs Viewer embed code that makes it pretty much clear that Google is going to read the PDFs and thus index them.

You could open the pdf, go to Document > OCR > Searchable image. That way G will be able to read/index it.

Depending on the size of the pdf files and your hardware you may want to do 5 or 10 pages at a time, hit save, then do the next set of pages cuz sometimes it will freeze if you do the whole pdf at once.
