I personally don't think there is trust when it comes to these new domain extensions that are popping up. I still stick to .net, .com, .org, .edu, .gov domains when it comes to buying things online or trusting the source.

Domain providers are in the business of making money, so they will do whatever it takes to milk money from businesses. Big brand owners will buy up all these domains to protect their brand. I am sure banks don't want their name being used with all these domain extensions.

From an SEO standpoint, it's possible to get those ranked just like any COM/NET..etc. The only time you really run into problems with that would be if we were talking ccTLDs like .DE, .FR..etc.
