I just made a new auto blog approx. 1 week ago. I decided I would focus a fairly good amount of energy on this single autoblog (I only have 4 real seo campaigns going right now) After just this 1 week I'm ranked 5th in the serps on google for a keyword that gets over 45,000 searches a month, and has over 1 million sites for the keyword in quotes. Are these types of results typical? I may just need to start making more of these once I lock down a top 3 spot for this blog.
Are auto blogs honestly this powerfull??

Looks like you're experiencing the google dance. Google will give an artificial ranking to a site that is newly indexed. This will last for a few days and then you will drop off completely. In about a week you should return, but will have to work to get back to the first page.
Also, it depends on what keyword it is. It may just have very low competition...

you will have to wait a few weeks to see where you actualy stand in the serps. the site will rise and drop a few times, just like paper_chase explained.
but if you are amaing for a longtail and optmized your site the right way, you can easily achieve a first page listing with an autoblog, no problem..
its still just another website to google, hiding the fact its copied and automated content from google, thats the trick.
