I've only discovered IM last week, and Amazon niche sites seem like a good place to start for learning how to rank, make a website, and write articles. It would be nice to make a bit of money, but my main goal is learning SEO.
Most of the amazon threads are from 2014-2016. So I just wanted to ask if anyone thinks time would be better spent in other ways since its now May 2017. (Not sure how quickly stuff changes)

I was thinking i would start off with less competitive things like "Best sunhats for babies" or something that makes 10 cents a sale. Then at least I can rank #1 and compare that difficulty to ranking more competitive things

    My resources:
    14-16 hours a day
    $3,000 to invest
    Long-tail pro and SemRush Trial

    Threads I've been reading:

Read Amazons TOS, stick to them too.
Disclaimers, linking etc are all strictly enforced.

It's got a lot harder from when I started. Really look at the trends - one day cookie so ensure you use a BUY IT NOW button thing, and rewrite like heck, the best thing to do about Amazon is they pay you for Prime, along with most general consumers adding more to the basket to make the free delivery. There add the adds (or make your own up with what people bought next). It's the most advanced buying system to an increase consumer order there is!

And for the other question - for a new person - YES! If you can do this with a one day cookie. You are good to explore many more opportunities!

Interesting, You should create a Journey post when you start, OP. If anything, you'll get a lot of feedback on what's good and bad. Just take what's said with a grain of salt.

I would recommend doing amazon affiliate marketing on budget ($1000).

That's when you reveal some tactics that are usually unknown.

For example, How you can get links by making a simple meme or a gif :)

PS: I have bagged some pretty good links coz my meme gifs were on point and awesome ;)

Well you will learn a lot more things with amazon affiliate site :)

Amazon sites are great. I have a journey thread on them. It's the KW research that will make or break you earning or not.

    Tools I use
    • KW Finder
    • Ahrefs (insanely useful!)
    • Keyword Shitter (again another seriously useful tool)

Yes, Amazon niche sites continue to be profitable. Making one serves as a great starting point for beginners who want to learn the ropes of affiliate marketing, and even online marketing in general. What's great is that you can easily find Amazon niche sites by just searching for "best X" kind of keywords. From there, you can study what the #1 sites are doing. Check how they craft content, where they place affiliate links, what long tail keywords they target, etc.
