I'm sorry, call me stupid but I just couldn't find any reliable source for my question using Google, so I thought I'd ask you guys for what you have experienced.

    Here's the thing:
I see plenty of people using affiliate / referral links in their video descriptions (amazon associates, ebay, envato & plenty of others).
I have a new channel which I want to use to get a foothold in the gaming niche - counter strike global offensive in particular. There are hundreds of websites out there on which you can gamble with cs:go items and there are thousands of youtubers promoting those websites.

However,I noticed, that all of those promoters only put promo codes in their video descriptions ("Enter 'promo123' on csgoskins.org for free $0.50"), but I found almost none of them to be using referral links.

Why is that? Is there a list of websites which's affiliate links one is allowed to use? Or are all those youtubers just plain stupid? (I mean, they're probably losing potential referrals, aren't they?)

Maybe their "promo123" code makes them ref. money without the need to use a link or maybe they don't know how to do it.
But you can just buy a domain, connect it to youtube and redirect your aff. links through it.

Google(youtube) does not allow porn or gambling.
If they find these type linking with your video google might be suspended your account.
Thus, they use only promo code not direct link.

Yes, those promo codes make them money. I was just wondering why they would use those promo codes over simple ref links. The links are not getting blocked, so I guess there's no need for buying a domain.

I never thought about those csgo casinos as real gambling sites, but obviously they are. Still, people do have links to those sites in their video descriptions, just not referral ones.

Yeah I do watch videos of CSGO youtubers like Fitz, Houngange, Kugo and few more. And I never thought of it usually I think not all promo websites have direct ref links in some you need to go to promo code section and type it. I could be wrong for this.

But I think youtube does not blocks you from putting any link, It could be a possibility that if you get mass reported then you will see a problem.
